Stinks not meaning smelly but not worth going.

I have never experienced so much heat, humidity and crowds as I have this past WDW trip I took the first week of August. I will never EVER go to WDW in the summer again.

I'm shooting for late November from now on.

Sorry you had such a bad time.

I have been reading about the heat, but most are reporting back that with being at park at rope drop, utilizing Fast Pass, and taking a midday break that it is making the trip pretty enjoyable.

I hope when you go in November you are much happier with your choice.

Funny, I thought you meant the actual stink. We stayed at Pop Aug.14-21, and what was up with the stinky bushes?? They smelled like dirty sweat socks!

I was talking to a cashier at DTD, and he said that February is a great time to come. I think he also mentioned November, but not during Thanksgiving because of the crowds. Hopefully next time will be better! :thumbsup2

I wouldn't go to Disney during the summer unless somebody else was completely paying for it! And even then I'd think twice. Living in Louisiana, when I go on vacation I want to get AWAY from the humidity. ;) When we made our current trip plans I told DH that I wouldn't go anytime between April and September.

The Animal Kingdom is unbelievably hot during the Summer months.

We did go at the end of July and as MissMichelle said you need to plan accordingly. You don't want to be anywhere near the parks from 1:00PM until 6:00PM if possible. The crowds and heat are at there peak during this time.

We arrived at rope drop everyday and left between Noon and 1:00 for an afternoon break at our resort. At 6:00PM we headed back to a different park for the evening. It did make for a much more enjoyable trip than if we stayed in the parks all day, or got a late start in the morning.

When we were at POP 2 years ago, I had to hold my breath when I walked by the bushes b/c they REEKED! I think it is a mold/mildew smell. Yuck. I also had to watch where I walked-- almost stepped on a snake coming out of the smelly bushes! Double yuck!

Otherwise, we loved POP.

Haha I'll have to check for the smelly bushes when I stay at the POP next time!

I appreciate the suggestion on going back to the resorts to rest and I also have heard February and November are great times to go.

It is because of the Free Food thing. It really filled the hotels and parks for those two months.

Sorry :(

:rotfl2: I am glad we weren't the only ones who smelled the bushed. I thought it smelled like rotting food! :scared:

I know I am not agreeing with the majority, but as you can see from my trip list, we always go in the summer! It is hot, but I LOVE IT! We go to the parks, back to POP for a swim, and back to parks at night. All the attractions have air, so we get breaks between the heat and drink plenty of water.
As far as the smell....Those bushes have a smell like that. I have one in the front of my house, it even smells in the winter.
I have been to WDW in the winter, it is fun...but to me it is not disney without the heat.

I went to Disney in July -- It was very hot, but like some others have mentioned -- Always go during the rope drop and take breaks in the afternoon.

I have been to Disney in November as well... It was awesome - However, the first night we got there it was 35 degrees and snow was spotted earlier in the day... I could not believe it... It did warm up to about 79 for the rest of the trip though..

I was at the POP from August 7 - 12. I had a FABULOUS time. It was my first solo trip and I celebrated my birthday. I can't change the month I was born in so it will always be hot in Florida if I go on my birthday. It's hot where I live in Texas in August too but not nearly as much fun.

Seriously, I did get sick from the heat once at AK because I stayed too long. By far the worst part was waiting in the heat and sun for the buses. My one suggestion - that they have awinings or some sort of shade to wait under at all the bus stops like they do at the Magic Kingdom.

I'm a teacher. I'll go again in summer and I'll go again at Christmas break and I'll love it. It's not the crowds, it's not the weather, - It's the attitude!
