Disney Springs worth the trip?

This means to take the bus from Magic Kingdom to the Port Orleans Riverside and take the friendship boat from Port Orleans Riverside to Disney Springs. We love the boat ride, too!

Yeah, but that wouldn't be avoiding the bus, would it? The op's post started out, "If you want to avoid the buses, you can take a bus..."

It's not a must do for us, but we have been a few times and it's usually for dinner. If we do go, I plan it for a midweek evening and I try to plan to be there by 4ish to tour around a bit before dinner and before it gets crazy busy. I'm not a fan of it later at night or a weekend when it's overrun with people.

DTD/DS is a must do for us. We make a visit every trip. Mostly for the shopping and we always have an ADR for supper. Usually we eat at Ragland Road since my DD has taken highland dance and loves the dancers. We take Disney bus from Contemporary since we stay there. We used to take a cab from a half day park like AK or DHS but with all the construction we've taken the bus the last 2 years from the resort.

So my advice would be to wait until your ADR window and then see what's available. The restaurants you listed IMHO are not worth the trip. However, there are others that are but value is in the eyes of the beholder. If you're girls are with you, I would recommend Raglan Road before Boathouse. And there are so many new restaurants coming...MK to Disney Springs I would either catch an intra-resort bus or as others have said take the bus to SSR, OKW, or POR and take a boat.

We will be in WDW during Christmas party season and two of our 3 MK days will be on party nights. I have never been a huge fan of Downtown Disney, but some of the dining options seem much more appealing to me than MK or the MK resorts. We really love Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck Express and the Boathouse looks promising also. Is Disney Springs worth the time and hassle to get to after a day at MK for dinner? If we make the trek...what is the best option? Car? Bus? Uber?

It's definitely worth checking out - we stopped by last Christmas and it was awesome. There was still a lot of construction going on and walls up, but the transformation was incredible.

I'd recommend going during the week, rather than the weekend. Disney Springs has become very big with the locals. With the plethora of restaurants and shopping locations, you'll notice a lot more young people on dates and locals just going for the night. When we went on 12/31 and 1/1 last year, it was PACKED. The walls and construction didn't help, but I'd avoid it on the weekend.

I meant avoid the DS bus not all busses. We have never had a problem getting a POR bus and have enjoyed the boat ride as opposed to the bus to DS.

Raglan Road, Morimoto Asia and The Boathouse have become must-do restaurants for us, so we find the trips to Disney Springs worth it to go multiple times per trip.

We tend to Uber back and forth to DS.

Thanks for mentioning Uber. We were thinking of walking from MK to the Contemerary and then catching an Uber ride to DS. Can an Uber driver drop you somewhere near the marketplace side?

Now that the Lime parking garage is open, you can be dropped off there.

Go mid-week if you can.

What Disney has created is a cool spot for tourists, but it's geared toward driving local commerce. Most of the new food spots have me excited, but it's one of those things I'll talk about nonstop then never actually have when I get there. Okay - maybe the D-Luxe burger, but I'd rather hit Contempo Cafe or Boardwalk Bakery than Sprinkles.

I do like the fact that if it's too cold or too hot (we go during Christmas) we can run to Under Armour.

I'd suggest going mid-week rather than the weekend. It's packed during the weekend but during the week it'll be mostly guests.

Haha just realized I already posted here. My bad!

It is definitely worth a trip there . The atmosphere is awesome the stores and restaurants are worth it. Great opportunity to get a drink , walk around and take in all the sights. They have bands playing as well as children from different dancing schools perform on the stage . It is our must do on our first night there. Besides mk it is our favorite spot in disney ! Not to mention Ghirardelli ice cream shop !! Taking the bus from our resort is no problem at all to get to disney springs.
