Disney Springs Awful?

It’s an Over glorified Shopping mall now. I suppose in some parts of the country, some of the stores are unavailable and that’s a draw but other than a True Disney shopping store, it’s a pass for us. Some good restaurants but imho it lost the Disney magic with the redo.

DW and I still enjoy it, but it's more about our personal tradition at this point. Depending on our arrival time we either just rest at the resort or maybe do a half day in the parks, then head to DS for dinner at Raglan Road. Depending on ADR time we stop in the Christmas shop before or after to pick an ornament to have personalized so that there's time to have it delivered to the resort before we leave, at least pre-pandemic. We also look through the large Disney store and get an idea of some things we might want to buy, we get a picture frame each trip, but that's about the extent of what we do at DS. I do agree that in general it feels much more like an outdoor mall and we really kind of keep to the path from the bus stop to the few places we go and that's it. We don't bother to really explore any longer.

We don’t consider DS part of the bubble as it really pulls us out of the magic to go there, as mentioned above it’s just an outdoor mall. But we will pop over if we need to. We saw Frozen 2 on its opening night for example. Some of the crowds there in the evening are, how should I say it, not child appropriate. And it’s just doesn’t feel very “Disney” to us.

I don't think it's awful. We usually try to squeeze in one visit there on at least every trip. We like the WOD store and a few of the other specialty shops. We also love the dining options and entertainment. It's a nice area to walk around, pick up a few souvenirs, and enjoy dinner.

Agree

We don't consider it a must do. TBH, when using Disney transportation, it can be a long and tedious journey. So must trips we don't bother. The only times we tend to go is when we stay at SSR and OKW as they are a nice quick boat ride away.
We have had nice experiences there, and do enjoy our time once over there, but isn't a big draw for our family.

i'm completely on the other side of most here, i love going through DS, i find it so enjoyable and pleasant. some of the restaurants are musts for me. we did the big balloon ride too.

back in February the parks were closing before like 7pm so we were heading out to Disney Springs almost every night. i found myself appreciating it more than ever before.

We went in mid-April and we had the best meal of our trip there (Homecomin'). But its not for our family. We aren't there to shop (or at least shop for non-Disney paraphernalia) and taking time to get over there cuts into our "World" time. And it was the only place where mask/social distancing requirements were more lax. Granted, that may not be a concern for much longer, but the general "chaos" of that area due to shopping/eating/drinking/entertainment is not what we are looking for when we go on vacation to WDW.

My sister was able to Gideon's cookies and those were quite frankly awesome, however!

Last time I was there it took over an hour waiting for a bus to our resort!! It’s just a place to make me spend more money and we are not souvenir shoppers so most trips I avoid it like the plague!!!

I do like a number of the restaurants there, but just like the rest of WDW, they are way over priced. If you drive another 5 miles beyond Disney Springs then prices drop considerably.

We love Uniqlo and don't have a store where we live, so we visit DS just to shop there, then usually grab lunch or dinner. I'd say we spend 2-3 hours there on every trip.

We definitely liked DD better, but have sort of gotten used to DS--- we usually go at least two nights during our trip (IF we stay 10-14 days) --- we like the AMC there, always went to "La Nouba" and my kids are obsessed with "Blaze" !

It's always been a shopping mall. Nothing changed, except they put in nicer stores.

Not sure what has changed that makes people dislike it. It is a place to shop or eat and if you aren't planning to do either of those I am not sure why else you would go there. It had been a number of years since our last Disney trip and when we went in 2019 they had added a number of new stores and a few things moved around.
