Just curious... I was 'you tubing' disneyland yesterday (something I've learned to do often to get my fix between vacations) and saw a video of the Disney Skyway that used to run through the Matterhorn. I know it came down in 1994 but does anyone have any idea why? I would love to see the Skyway revived. Same with the People Movers....

The Skyway used to take people from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland and back. I have read it was closed due to cost to upkeep and outdated in terms of meeting requirements to serve guests with disabilities. We used to love ride in the bucket cars, seeing DL below. Everything looked so small from up there!

Also, didn't some lady jump out and claim she fell out when attempting to sue?

Add the spitting and out of control riders as another well known rumor for its closure.

Overall the skyways in many parks have gone the way of the doodoo, due to safety, popularity and troublemakers and they are probably things that won't be seen back any time soon.

But the people mover that would be a lovely surprise to see back!

I thought a guy purposely jumped out into to a tree with the intention of suing. Also, can you imagine people feeling the need to spit on people from there. As much as I LOVED the Skyride, it is probably better off in Yesterland!

Still, I loved it. I would like to see them come back in the form of 'cages', like on the sunwheel, then people couldn't jump and it would make spitting pretty difficult.

There's a Snopes snippet about here

I loved the Skyway because it gave such a unique perspective of the park. It also made for some great pictures...

These were my favorite when i was younger. I wish they would revive them too, but understand why they would choose not to. I also miss the monorail not going directly to the Disneyland hotel. That was a definite perk when I was a girl.

sorry, but the monorail station has never moved.......it just seems that way.
