I'm afraid this will sound dumb or judgmental (I don't want it to be the latter - perfectly fine with the former). I don't get the collectible keys thing. Does anyone have a good display of them? Is it just about getting them all (other than the Stitch Crashes set, I didn't notice there being a particular scope). And I last hit WDW after pins and vinylmations - is this just the new(est) thing? I've seen one or two that look cool - but I find myself wondering at the Disney Mover Insiders posters (why wouldn't I want a print of a key that kind of relates to the movie - like, I get it but it's also not quite the normal movie poster) and then some recent entry on DisneyFoodBlog. Help a brother out?
Disney Store keys have been around for over a decade so not really new. They used to just be given out to those who opened Imagination stores and some stores had exclusive keys (NYC, Harrods, Paris). There's also CM exclusive keys. They started doing special giveaways for them (like Mickey's 90th birthday in 2018 with only 90 per store). It's gotten a little out of control the past year and a half, though, with the releases.
The original "Vine Key" that was only given in limited locations I've seen go for over $1k. But prices are dropping as people stop collecting because of the mass releases Disney is doing.
