I say this not to criticize but hopefully to raise awareness to Disney executives.

While I know that there is a very serious line that the Disney execs must walk to try to improve security without increasing worry. However, sooner or later I think Disney is going to have to truly make up their mind of what they want. Personally I don't worry more when I see more security, though the corporate perception is the opposite. I feel safer and it doesn't take away from my magic if I am safe.
While in line for Space Mountain this past weekend, I was approximately in the middle portion of the queue where there is really no quick way out should something happen. Suddenly the worst things started running through my mind......."if something happens now, where do I go?". Answer was, while many attractions have quick exits for emergencies, this specific part of the attraction does not (please refrain from accusing me of hinting to future terrorists of places to attack as they likely are not reading here if they are looking for spots).
While standing in this part of the queue I then began thinking back to when I came in through security and realized that it woudn't stop anyone except for someone carrying a large bomb. Not only that, if I were really smart, which mosts people planning trouble usually are, I could stand for a few moments, scope out the guards and decide which one I'd like to go to, to get whatever I wanted through. Point is, there are many, if not most security guards that while they do search you can put a small box under some changes of shirts, food, etc and they won't dig down to see it.
Point is, if you wanted to cause problems, serious problems, and you have a halfway intelligent thought process, you probably have a 85-90% chance of accomplishing your goal, even with security measures heightened.
I love Disney World, probably too much, and while the last thing I want is slower entry, and more privacy intruded. However, Im not asking that they do background checks on me. I simply can appreciate if they would check everyone's bags completely. If you are bringing it in, and know in advance it is going to be checked, you shouldn't be ashamed of them checking it.
My thought process is that there is no way that an airline that carries 200 people should have a higher security measure than a company that at any point in time may have over 60,000 people within it's gates (in just one park).
If reality is something you don't want to hear, stop reading now::::::::::::

If a coordinated effort from multiple parks was accomplished, there legitimately and easily could be a toll much like that of the World Trade Center, if not worse, even with the heightened security measures.
I think about this everytime I get on a monorail and realize there is nobody protecting them. I was happy and bothered at the same time this past week by something I saw. I went to Disney in the busiest time in March and throughout the week of July 4, and even on my trip this past week, not until my last day did I see someone standing at the Monorail station asking to see tickets before allowing them on, and even with that, half the people got by without being checked. That was the first time in my years of going to Disney (as an AP holder and going monthly) that I have seen them doing that, and even with it, it was useless as people just walked right around the lady (who was attempting to check everyone all by herself).
I just think something has to be done. With inconsistency comes failure. I don't one day want to see Disney shut down indefinately due to an extreme attack. I still have a major problem that the No-Fly zone was softened. At the current No-Fly standards of Disney, an aircraft entering the no-fly zone would/could make impact within 30 seconds, which is no time for any reaction or warning. This to me means there is NO no-fly zone. While that may not be controlled by Disney, it is a shame.
My point is that I feel that the little security measures that are at Disney now are merely a show to make us (the guests) "feel" safe, while it saves Disney the perception they know will come with bringing in bag checking machines like the airports use, and more importantly to them, saves them money. I feel like Disney is playing a game of Russian Roulette.
I care so much because I, as most people know, that Disney has been proven to be scouted by Terrorists as tapes of security intelligence was found in Germany.
This problem could be solved by either re-training the current security guards and paying them better or hiring a more legitimate security staff to control the entrances.
The security entrances should be located at the gates of the monorails along with the gates of the parks. Right now Disney monorails are COMPLETELY unprotected against attack. Should an attack be accomplished at the perfect time of two trains crossing, hundreds of people could die.
Not only that, let's remove the "terrorist" idea. Right now a gun can so easily be taken into the park that it disgusts me. Disney, please do the right thing and protect all of your guests and in the long run, your parks and your image.
This world thinks in hindsight. I hope Disney is not doing the same. I think right now if someone wanted something to happen, it's a done deal.
No security guard should check a bag less than another. They all should check thoroughly every single time. It may take longer, but that's at least better than not having a park to go to one day. Also with money invested, it could be made quicker with a more efficient system.
Also, why was the lady only checking tickets one day? That should be every day and it shouldn't be one lady. It should be a system set up and organized that doesn't allow anyone through.
im not asking to build concrete walls around Disney, but folkes, if you think you are safe in the parks right now, you are sadly mistaken. It's nothing more than an image.
To add to this...........if Disney wants to improve their public image with this before it gets ruined they need to do something before long. It's only a matter of time before a prime time network like NBC does an undercover story on this and burns Disney publicy on a Worldwide stage. You know it's coming.
Disney, please improve security, make it consistent and make my family safe!
