Has anyone been to the Downtown Disney Scrapbook store and is it worth the trip? Thanks

Hi,
I have been there. Most of what they sell there is also available at the gift shops at various resorts or in the World of Disney store in DTD where there is a 10% discount for various passholders or users of the Disney VISA card. In my opinion, the selection at any of the places in Disney is far less than what you can probably get in your LSS.

The store is nice to visit, but most of the items you can find at other places on property. I found most of my purchases at the parks and resorts. (many of the items you can find at your LSS) Albums and Park specific items are better purchased while you are on vacation. I find calling after to have them shipped is harder to explain to the CM. :confused3

I actually bought more things from the Disney POP Cent. Resort Gift Shop then the DT scrapbook store.. :confused3

We have a Great store here in NJ called Firefly that also has a website and they had so many Disney items.. kinda expensive though..

:goodvibes Thank you for you help. We only have 3 1/2 days and just wanted to make sure I didn't waste 1/2 a day at DTD for just for a few stores if we can find products at the parks or resort stores. I just discovered this section for scrapbooking here too..I will be spending more time here!!

If you have a Disney visa or have an AP, you will want to do a chunk of your shopping at DTD at World of Disney, as you get 10% discount. We usually browse stores at the parks and then hit WoD and get what we want.

I was also not impressed by the shop, hopefully in the future they will have exclusive items in the shop and more then just papers and stickers.

I too have been disappointed with the selection at DTD. I wonder why Disney hasn't jumped on this and offered more?
Deb

I was actually dissapointed with this store. I didn't think they had a very good selection, and I actually was able to get more supplies (cuter stuff, too) at my local Scrapbooking store!

I was very disappointed in the store at DTD and have found much better Disney scrapbooking supplies at mousememories.com

It was a lot smaller than I expected. If you're going to DTD anyway, I'd say go on in, but don't go just for that store, especially on a short trip.

Welcome, mrstbalt!

I thought the scrapbooking store was interesting to see the once, but as others have said, you can find most of the Disney scrapbooking supplies at the various stores and resorts on site. There were only a few items there that I hadn't seen while at WDW.

I noticed you have an autism ribbon in your signature. There are a few of us scrappers here who are touched by someone with autism. :grouphug:

The first time I posted on this, I was sure I was going to get flamed. I was so upset over the lack of items, that I fought with DH. Poor Guy. I had left that store for the very end of our trip and was very disappointed.

No, Disney just doesn't get it, or else they have licensed so much of it out that what is in there is all they can get!

Adding more to this... I, too, wonder why Disney hasn't jumped on the bandwagon with this scrapbooking thing! I mean if they set up a scrapbooking store offering individual pages, and stickers, etc.. like we can find at our local scrapbooking store, they would make yet another small fortune! They truly are missing the boat.

Even though I said I wasn't let down by the store, I probably will still visit it again on our next trip when we are in Downtown Disney... but won't have the expectations I had last time. They did have some things that were year specific, which were nice, but I actually bought them at World of Disney! lol

Here's a little tip.. we saved pretty much EVERYTHING from our last trip.. cool (clean) napkins, ride photo tickets (even if we didn't buy the pic.. it has the ride name on it, and makes a great embelishment), fast passes, etc.. I also make trips to Home Depot and get those paint samples in all different colors. They are awesome! :)
