LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Walt Disney Co (DIS - News) President and Chief Executive Robert Iger received a 7 percent increase in total compensation in fiscal 2007, to $27.7 million, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday.
Disney paid Iger a $2 million base salary, plus a $13.7 million bonus. The company expensed $7.9 million in stock awards and $2.2 million in option awards for Iger during the fiscal year ended September 30, the company's proxy showed.

Everything he touches is magic and wonder....:scared: :scared:

I am certain that every CM at WDW making $7.54/hour is really happy about Iger's (I mean Ogre's) success.

That salary is pornographic considering what the line staff are earning at disney...who could raise a family on that salary....those are the guys that really benifit from those imaginary "tax cuts"

To be fair nobody put a gun to anyones head and told them they must go to work for Disney or anywhere for that much money. Those people made that choice. Nobody making 7.something an hour is paying any income taxes anyway. 99% of the taxes in this country are paid by the top 50% wage earners....not those poor people slaving away at the Teacups trying to raise 6 kids and sleeping on dirt floors.

While realistically we are not all dealt the same socio-economic cards when we are born into the world, we certainly can make our own choices based on the level of skills we are willing to learn and excell at. I assume that "every CM making $7.54 an hour" is the starting wage. The problem with labor agreements is that many times the merit increases and cost of living adjustments becomes a function of the advocate, the union, and not of your own skills and ambition. However, even with a controlled labor agreement, a CM that is stuck making $7.54 per hour for any extended period of time is probably not a very good CM.

A couple of weeks ago, I was speaking to a cute elderly CM couple who were shopping on their day off. They were perfectly happy with their wages and benefits and felt it was a great place to work. Most of our discussion was about Disney's orientation and training program, as it has come up on these boards as one of the reasons why Disney is "declining in quality and service". They said it was to them pretty intensive, down to how CM's "point directions with their hands". Obviously they were semi-retired and weren't trying to earn a living to increase their wealth.
