Is there any data on Disney Buying back? I wonder if anyone has looked at contracts Disney has exercised their right to buy back. Was it simply price, loaded vs stripped, and new to DVC owner vs existing?

Yes, in fact there's a whole thread here, a new one is started every quarter, and the data goes back years. The current one has a link to the previous one. https://www.disboards.com/threads/r...ost-for-instructions-formatting-tool.3954660/

Nope. The ROFR process has often been compared here to a drunken monkey throwing darts at a board. We know that in addition to price, Disney looks at factors such as which Residential Unit the points come from (because when they resell those points, they'll bundle them into a new contract, and all of the points in the new contract must come from the same RU) and whether the seller is international (there's a tax called FIRPTA, and it seems that Disney doesn't want to deal with it). They used to look at Use Year, until they gave themselves the right to change the UY of points they take back, so that doesn't seem to be a factor anymore. And they might have a customer waiting to buy but not have enough points in inventory. Those are only the few factors I can think of right now; there are others such as the economy (ROFR essentially disappeared during the Great Recession).

Thanks.

I check periodically on the list thread you posted. Wasn't sure about the different factors Disney uses to ROFR besides price.

Still curious if they look at who is buying and their prospective purchases. Like are they DVC members already, do they have a large amount of points already, do they use all of their points or “rent” them out to other people, how much spent by the individual purchasing the points at WDW, and room types they use their points on if already DVC? We know Disney keeps all this data on everyone that has ever been to the parks. Curious how they use it.

It seems to me that any answer given here is going to be speculation. No real trends emerge other than price being a factor but even then some fall through the cracks, or maybe are allowed to pass through the cracks. I think it's extremely unlikely that any digging into the owner's usage or ownership of other points is happening. What would even be the advantage to Disney to spend that kind of time?? To spite a potential resale buyer? It seems far more likely that they buy back when they need points.

I marked up my copy of the contract to give Disney the right of second refusal before signing.
