Disney rewards?

I have about 160 dollars in disney rewards. Should have a few more before my trip but not sure how to do this...

Should I order the card now for my sept trip with say 150? and then after my august 25 next statement transfer the other 10+ what ever I earn in Aug. Is it easy to get the rest onto the card? If its a pain I will just do the 160 now and forget about the other few dollars I earn in Aug but if its easy I figure every dollar counts.

As you can tell this is my first time cashing in any rewards from this card.... :confused3

Good luck trying to order the Rewards redemption card........I tried for over a half hour earlier this evening......unsuccessfully. Every time I would use the drop down box to try and order the card it wouldn't advance to an order screen, so I think I'll just call the toll free number tomorrow morning rather than waste any more time trying to order it online.

Go ahead and order it for 150 now IMO. We called a couple of weeks ago and got our rewards cards in plenty of time. I've read that some people have had trouble getting their cards before their trip so don't delay!

Adding to the card is really no problem - we've always done it by calling and it was quick and painless.

I received my card a few years ago but I think you can order the card now since it has to be mailed and then add the remaining points before you go. It's easy to transfer the remaining points over the phone. That's what I did since I really wanted to make sure I had my card before my trip.

I just ordered mine a couple days ago. We are not going until the end of November, but I wanted to make sure that I got it in time. I transferred all onto the card and I plan to transfer anything else that I earn right before we leave.

I usually order the card several months in advance with only the $20 required minimum. Once I have the card in my hands, I transfer points as I need them. That way, if something happens and the trip is cancelled, I don't lose what is on the card (cards expire within 2 years of issue). Also, this year my card was lost in the mail TWICE, so I was really glad there wasn't a pile of points on it. I know, they'll figure it out and re-award the points, but I hated thinking of losing over $800 because of a glitch by the USPS (not that that'd ever happen!).

when is your trip? The cards only last for about 9 months to a year. Don't order too early, but give yourself at least a month to obtain one.

I would order for the minimum amount now and then transfer everything else right before the trip. This way if you don't earn enough for a transfer or something else happens you will be safe

I would order the card now to ensure that you have it and not apply the full amount. of rewards. Because if the minumum transfer is $20 and you accrue $10 in August then you can't transfer it. By leaving a balance then you can add the $10 in August to it and transfer it all.

It's easy to call & transfer more points to the card once you have it. I did it from a phone in the hotel lobby last trip.

Our last trip was rather last minute so I didn't have time to order a card. I went to the guest services window at DHS and they gave me a one. I then had to call and add the points; it was very easy to do! Guest services at any of the WDW parks can help you with this and then you don't have to worry about losing the card, leaving it at home or having the cards expire.

Good luck!

You can get a card at Guest Services
You need to transfer $20 to activate the card
You can call and get them to transfer any balance at any time (again $10 minimum)
Cards typically expire at the end of the current year, or the following year.

I wouldn't bother calling Disney Rewards and instead go to Guest Relations and get one. It takes a five minute phone call and is very easy. My points were transferred to the card in a matter of seconds and I had no issues. The caveat is that if you already have paid for tickets, they won't refund that and charge your rewards card instead. At least they wouldn't at the MK Guest Relations. :( But, it isn't like there is a shortage of things to buy at Disney. ;)

I was told by a CM that when I check into my resort, if I have points already on a rewards card, they can apply them to my already paid-for reservation. THen they would credit that amount back to the credit card I originally used to pay for the resort package.

Can anyone verify the accuracy of this for me?

I have had two separate occasions this week of CM's giving me bad scoop on matters. So I would like to get someone else to verify this before I count on it being right!

TIA!

That's what happened with us. I got a card from guest service, called & had all the available "dream dollars" put onto it and then, at check out, the CM credited my Visa. We had charged a few meals and other items to the room so basically the rewards paid for dinner at San Angel and some drinks at the poolside bar. :)

I think you guys may be talking about 2 different things?:confused3
Did you use your rewards toward purchases made while at Disney?
Because when I read the thread you replied to I thought they were asking about using rewards for their "trip" that was already paid for?

Sorry to confuse you but I don't think we are talking about two different things. I was just commenting that it was like getting a free dinner - I was very happy about that!

They don't really separate out the charges. I didn't use my rewards card at the points of purchase but upon check-out. The CM credited the card (my Disney Visa) that was attached to my ressie for the amount on my rewards/gift card. Of course, I charged things to my room so, in preparation for checkout, the resort had made a charge to the card on file, this is why they credit the amount of the rewards/gift card back to your Visa.

Clear as mud right? I think I need more caffeine. :)
