I've read several posts about this card recently and the benefits it provides for Disneyholics. If you use this, what can you tell me about the rewards? Is there a fee? TIA

There are two vesions of the card.
  • The Disney Visa card
    • Does not have a fee
    • Earns a straight 1% on all purchases
  • The Disney Premium Visa card
    • Has a $49 annual fee
    • Earns 1% on all pruchases
    • Earns an additional 1% on certain categories:
      • grocery stores
      • gas stations
      • restaurants
      • most Disney purchases
    • For the first 3 months, you get a promotional rate and earn 5% on purchases at locations that normally get 2%
    • Reward dollars can be used for airline fares

Both cards have the following perks:
  • Reward dollars that can be used at Disney Parks, Disney Web Sites, Disney Stores, and for DVC dues. When you're ready to redeem, they send you a Rewards Card that works just like a Disney gift card.
  • Special character meet & greet at Epcot and California Adventure that is only open to Disney Visa cardholders
  • 10% savings at Disney stores and DisneyStore.com
  • 6-month 0% APR for Disney vacation packages, cruises, or DVC purchases
  • 20% discounts on most tours at Disney Parks
  • Limited 10% dining discounts at Disneyland California

We have had the cards for a few years now. We love it. You used to get 1% but now can get 2% back. They basically put the money on a card that you can use at the disney store or at disney world etc.

We usually use it on things that we actually have cash in the bank to pay for like big ticket items, but we use this card, then pay it off within the first month to get the points.

Than by the end of the year, we use it for Christmas gifts for kids, or use it on a trip to disney, usually applying what we have on the card towards our passes or food etc. at WDW.

This is the only charge card I use. I use the rewards to buy our groceries at WDW. One year, I had a card with over $200 on it. HEAVEN. It felt like we were getting stuff for FREE.:thumbsup2

One of the things I don't like about rewards/gift cards in general is keeping track of my current balance when I use the card towards purchases that are less than the balance on the card. What I like about the Disney rewards program is that it's easy to use up the entire balance at one time, either towards our DVC dues or towards our room bill when we're at WDW. I let the rewards build up a bit, transfer them to the card and then use the entire balance in one transaction and I'm done.

The red is ONLY for those upgrading from the regular Disney Visa. New accounts for the Premier Disney Visa will recieve a $100 gift card after first purchase. Currently new accounts for the regular Disney Visa are getting a $50 gift card after first purchase.

We use it for everything! Upgraded to premium last month. Also about 2 or 3 times a year we get a special offer that states we get 5% on all food, gas and etc for 3 months so we really take advantage of that!
Our last trip down was in August and had over $800.00 on it. I just checked my statement and since August I am up to 220 dollars..

Would DVC annual dues be included in the 2% category?
I'm not sure about this. The FAQs page states that you get 2% off purchases at certain Disney locations and DVC is listed but without any specifics as to what is eligible. I'm not sure that they would consider DVC dues a "purchase".

ETA: I just re-read everything again and don't see anything that rules it in or rules it out. They specifically mention that you can use the reward dollars toward your DVC dues but they don't say anything about whether your DVC dues qualify for the additional 1%.

Actually, I've called twice and verified that new card members are supposed to get the 5% rewards promotion, as well.

Did they also say that you would be getting the $100 gift card after first purchase? I double checked with them when I upgraded my card because my mom thought about getting a card and they said it is only the $100 and not the 5%. Also, there is no mention at all of the 5% rewards for new card members on www.disneyrewards.com .

I'll call back again tomorrow and speak to a supervisor to see if they refute what the first two representatives told me. I'll let y'all know what they say. :confused3

I have the Disney Visa card - not the Premier. It's the only card we use.

I am sure it's not the best one out there for rewards but we use our reward dollars every year towards our maintenance fees. (except twice we used it for our onboard DCL account). We recently applied almost $500 toward the dues. Very easy to use and works for us right now.

Ugh, so frustrating! I called back to speak to a supervisor and explained how two different advisors had told me that new card members would receive the 5% and she apologized and said they'd been having issues with advisors being confused on the issue and said what I had been told was wrong. She was very apologetic about the misinformation I'd been given (from two different employees!). And she offered 10 extra rewards dollars, which I didn't expect and was grateful for. But I have to say that as a new customer, this kind of first impression doesn't exactly engender much trust. :headache:
