I am trying to convince my husband to get the Disney Visa to help out for our April trip. The trip was booked through Costco, but I know we can earn gift cards by charging the remaining balance. The question is how long until you can use your points and how quickly do the cards come?

Points can be added to your reward card at the beginning of each billing cycle at a minimum of $10. Not sure how long it takes to get the card but I've never waited more than a week for any charge card to arrive once it has been approved. If you are going in April and applied today, you'd have approximately 3 months of charges/rewards to accrue, depending on your billing cycle of course. It your cycle hits during your vacation, you can have the front desk of your resort transfer the rewards to your card while there.

The rewards for the Disney Visa are not actually "gift cards" -- you transfer your rewards points (dollars) to a Rewards Redemption Card. Points are accrued on your next statement date after the charge (so if I were to charge something today the reward points will be on my statement dated 1/21). Once you have at least 20 points you may request a Rewards Redemption Card; it's been a while since I ordered one but I think reports have been that it comes within 1-2 weeks or less. Once you have a redemption card, you can make immediate transfers either online or by phone; I believe those must be in increments of $10. If your statement date falls during a vacation, you can even transfer points while at WDW.

Enjoy your vacation!
