Disney rewards visa points?

Can someone walk me through the options to redeem points for an upcoming (December) trip?

I am aware I can get a card (debit card?) with my points that I can use for food and other purchases at the resorts/parks (true?). I assume I request that through the chase website, and I can just put all my points in it (I have 500 points.. I'm pretty sure I'll consume that in food purchases).

That said, I am also going to a Christmas party. I'd rather use the points (or most of them) on the tickets for that, so I don't have to worry about charges to the debit card (and instead use Magic Bands). Is that possible (buying party tickets with points) and if so, how would I go around doing that?

You can request a Rewards Redemption Card online now (www.disneyvisa.com); you'll need to put a minimum $20 on it initially. Once you have the card in-hand, you can add more rewards points immediately either online or by phone.

Alternatively, you can wait until you are at WDW and get an empty Rewards Redemption Card from Guest Relations. You'll then need to make a phone call to activate it and transfer your points, but that will occur immediately when you make the call.

You should be able to use the Rewards to pay for the Christmas party tickets. If you call to buy the tickets or buy them in person, the CM should know how to do it. If you purchase online, I *think* it's processed like a gift card. You can probably "chat" to ask.

I just wanted to add that it can take some time for the redemption card to arrive if you do it while you are home and request the card to be mailed. I would feel comfortable doing it prior to the trip if I had about 3 weeks until the trip (no, it probably won't take that long but I am a nervous nelly). Otherwise, I would go to Guest Relations when I got to the world! I know you said December but just throwing this out there for anyone else who may benefit from your thread!

I have used my redemption card online (although not for tickets) and yes, it works like a gift card. You do have to enter a credit card back up just in case. One time they charged my credit card instead of my redemption card (no idea why, it had never happened before) and all it took was a quick phone call and they credited my credit card and charged the redemption card no problem.

How do I use a gift card online? On my profile it seems it only allows for 1 card to be linked to the profile. Is there an option as I check out to charge the 'gift card' and enter it then instead of the credit card already in the system?

If you shop online (not sure about the app) then yes, there is a place to enter gift cards at checkout. There is actually an option to use the redemption card as well. So you can gift card, redemption card or credit card.
