Got my new card under the discount for kids deal a few weeks ago and was checking on how the rewards points work. You really can't obtain any of your points until you reach $20? Even if I used my card non stop for the next month until my latest billing statement I could not get my points high enough to get to $20 in reward points. Why do they set it at $20 anyway?

I called Visa and they stated even at the parks you have to have 20 to be able to use them. I could have sworn somebody on here said 10 was the limit.

The first time you request a rewards card, the minimum transfer is $20. To transfer to an existing rewards card or to get a second card (such as after the first card expires), the minimum is $10.

Cards expire on 12/31 of the year after the year the rewards card was issued. So if you have a rewards card issued at any time in 2010, it will expire 12/31/2011.

Why the limits? I'm sure there has to be some sort of limit or people would be ordering cards for just a $1 or $2 transfer - not very cost effective.

OK, at least I know I am not crazy then. I knew I had heard about $10 for something.

Oh well. Guess I won't be able to utilize any points before our trip in May.

Just out of curiosity, if we don't get a card this year at all, when do the points expire?

In the Rewards detail section on your statement, it says how many you've earned and when they expire. I don't remember the exact time frame, but I *think* it's three or four years from the time you earn them, as long as they haven't been transferred to a card.

Guess I will have to wait for my first statement with my 2 disney dollars on it. heh
