We received the promotion for 5 times the points on gas, groceries, airline tickets....and there was something else but I forget. Anyway, I did supermarket check out on the card. (which I hate to do..but figured with the promo..as long as I pay it off right away, I might as well get the points). I noticed on the statement I received today that there were not 5 times the points applied. I call Chase, and a rep told me that it takes 6 weeks for promotional points to post on the account. Has anyone else experienced this?:confused3 Because there was the one point per hundred applied..so I'm wondering what's the big deal with posting the other four and why does it take six weeks for them to post. It's likely you might forget about them by then.(or is that what their hoping?)..I wrote down all my purchases that should qualify for the 5 X's the points so as to check on next months statement if they've been applied yet. Only I figured let me check here, and see if anyone else has experienced this. If anyone who received the promo and made purchases is receving the appropriate points on the statement period they were purchased in? Thanks ;)

I obviously don't know the details of your offer or what you spent, but here's how it works. You only get the extra points on anything over the spending amount in your offer. For example, if they sent you an offer that said spend $500 or more, you would get the usual 1pt/$ for the first $500 spent and the 5x amont would only be applied to anything you spend above that amount. Also, it depends on how the charge appears on your account, which I believe is determined by the store. If it didn't go through as grocery, it may not count toward your total. So if you didn't meet the requirements, you wouldn't get the extra points anyway. If you did then yes, it does takes extra time for them to show up on your statement.

It was 5 X's the points over a hundred. So that would mean then the first hundred is still the one point..and then the five points would kick in AFTER that? Hmmm...so if I spent $128.00 on groceries, then I'm still only getting 1 point. Do they keep track of that 28.00 balance as an item that would qualify for the 5X's the points then? Also does this carry over from one billing cycle to another. It is supposed to be a three month promotion. Are you starting over each month..or is it cumulative during that three month period? Meaning if I met the first one hundred on groceries..now does the 5 X's the point start kicking in on the future grocery or airline tickets, or does it start each month again having to meet the first hundred before the 5X's the points kicks in?

I think I just confused myself, :scared: I'm sorry if I'm not very clear. Obviously this is the first promo we've ever received.

Okay, I've got my most recent offer in front of me, which I probably won't be participating in because it's $900!! Anyway, it states "For every eligible dollar you spend above $900 each month...etc, etc. I assume that means it does not carry over. And yes, you were correct, that first $100 of yours only earns the 1 point. Also, make sure you enrolled in the program at their website or by calling. You can't get the credits unless you enroll, but you can enroll anytime during the promo months and it's good for the whole period. My last offer before this was for only $400 or $500 for Jan, Feb, Mar and I did just get some extra points on my April statement, so the program does work if you spend enough! If you still have the offer in front of you, read all the fine print in case yours is different, though I assume they would all be the same except for the spending amount.

Well then I guess paying for the groceries if it's not at least two hundred, (since our offer is for anything over a hundred) really isn't worth it ..at least as far as the points carrying over. I hate putting groceries and that sort of thing on a card anyway. I did purchase some airline tickets for near $600.00 for my son recently.(he gave me the money, but I wanted the points for the rewards card..since we have an August trip to Disney). scheduled) Oh..and Yes, I did call and enroll.
First time we've had a promo offer, and at least the amount is over one hundred...or I wouldn't have bothered. Thank you for your help.:thumbsup2

I really don't think you are getting the most out of you reward cards if you don't use them. I use mine for everything! Utilities, phone, groceries, gas anything and everything that I purchase. I use the card like a debit card and write down every penney I spend with the card and always pay it off at the end of the month. The rewards can really stack up that way. If you ever carry a balance you should not use a rewards card.

For me it is not a decision whether or not to use a rewards card, but just which rewards card. My Disney card only give me 1% normally so I use other cards that give me more benefits.

Since I had the $100 limit this time, I decided the 5% was worth switching to my Disney card, but then my billing period ended on April 15th, so I didn't have much over the $100 that time.

Does anyone know if since the points don't apply until later, is it a monthly total or a billing cycle total?

Thanks.

My fine print states: "....every dollar spent above the specified hurdle each calendar month from April 1 to June 30, 2008...."

Now...get this. I get another e-mail tonight. That is the same offer except that it states I get 5 X's the rewards after meeting $500.00. WHAT THE HECK?....I received the offer last month for 5 X's the rewards after $100.00.
I did call and activate the original offer. Why is this second e-mail offer being sent. Anyone ever have this happen? I'm planning to call tomorrow and make sure that it is the first offer they sent in the mail..and which I called and responded to, that is being applied to our account.
I tell ya..this card is more effort than it's worth at this point.:rolleyes1

I got an email too, but originally didn't pay any attention to the amount listed. Just looked again after reading your post. Mine also states $500--my original offer was for $900!! Might have to check further into this...
