I have the regular card you don't pay a yearly fee for. DH has the one with yearly fee, his renewed month is December. If he canceled his card in December I assume he would lose all rewards he has earned, even if they been put on a redemption card. We are going to Disney in January. If we downloaded rewards onto redemption card before December, apply it to the room balance, would the rewards we applied still show as valid if we won't be arriving until mid January? Also, I have a reward redemption card that expires 12/15. I have $90 I have not downloaded onto the card. Do I have to request a new redemption card if I want to use it in January or will they automatically send me a new one. How long does it take to get a redemption card and can you have them download your rewards onto it when you order it? I know this is long. Thanks.

If you use the rewards to pay down your balance, it shouldn't matter that you closed your account before your actual arrival. If you earned the rewards and have the redemption card, they are yours to use as you please. I just wouldn't close the account without having your redemption card in hand first. Also know that you can downgrade your husband's card to a no annual fee card too.

If I remember correctly you can request up to two redemption cards, so maybe it would be best to keep the expiring amount separate from the new amount. When I ordered the cards last year it took only a week or so.

Hope this helps!

Chase will not automatically send a new Redemption Card. Make sure you use any funds on that card before it expires, as the points will expire with it. If you wish to have a Redemption Card to use during your trip in January, you will need to request a new one and put your reward points on the new card.

PP is correct that once you use DH's rewards to actual pay down the balance owed on your vacation, it doesn't matter if he closes the account AFTER using those points but before your actual vacation. And true you can "downgrade" his card to the no-fee card.

Enjoy your vacation!
