I am trying to decide if I want the Disney Rewards Visa Card. It seems that I will need to spend a ton of money to get enough reward points to exchange for anything worthwhile.

If you have the card - is it worth it???

THANKS!!!

I use my Disney Visa Card which pays for our annual passes every year. I earn anywhere from 30-50 points per month. I put everything on the card and pay off the credit card every month.:thumbsup2
So, if you can budget accordingly - I think the reward point work out great.

It's essentially 1% cash back like many cards, only the 1% is in Disney Bucks. The perks are offers to buy Broadway show tickets early, occasional special vacation deals, and a newsletter/coupon book.

We like it very much. There are also interest deals on paying off vacations, but we never carry a balance, so that doesn't affect us.

I love my Disney card! It is paying for all of our food (and maybe a couple of souvineirs) for our next trip. As the above posters, we charge EVERYTHING each month and pay it off at the end of the month. We have NEVER carried a balance on it, the interest rates are too high!

We would get a Disney Visa if we could, but we're in Canada - and Chase bank doesn't exist here! (The pics I've seen of these Visas are great. Sigh.) To make up for it we use airline rewards cc's - and we try to think of them as our "Disney" cc's as they fly us to the parks twice a year (saving us $1000 of airfare each trip).

If it's money you were going to spend anyways, why not get something back for it? Gas? Food? Groceries? etc ... if you spend 800/mo on all that stuff, then you're getting back $96 at the end of the year, that's a nice dinner at WDW.

we use it quite a bit. then use the cash for drinks or gifts.
We just bought SSR and put a BIG downpayment on the card. Now we'll start putting more and pay off at the end of the month as to build more cash for out next trip. Mabe enough to pay for DDP or most of it!

Charter Member and proud of it!! We use our Disney Visa for everything, pay the bill every month and never have to worry about spending money while at WDW!! :cool1:

We love ours. We use it for everything and pay it off at the end of the month. We will have a extra 200.00 to spend in Disney this year.

We use ours to for almost everything and we pay it off every week or two. We just used all of our Disney Dollars last December when we stayed at SSR. Since then (about 6 months) we have already earned $429 for our next trip in Dec. 08.:cool1:
It is definitely worth it, as long as you don't start to carry a balance.

I love my Disney Visa. I have used it twice to pay for add-on points and the rewards really add up for those. I haven't tried this, but you can take up to six months to pay for your down-payments (add-ons).

Like the others, I pay it off every month. By the time we go to WDW we have enough to buy some souvenirs or pay for some meals. This time I am taking DG to Bippity Boppity Boutique using my rewards dollars. Fun stuff!

Maybe a spa treatment with rewards dollars next??

We put our DVC purchase on it!! Might as well get a few meals along with the deal, while we're at it. And, as other posters have noted, we won't be keeping a balance on the card.....(saving that for the home equity line of credit).

In the past, the best discounts on tours at WDW were by charging it to the Disney Visa.

If you do decide to get the card, be aware that there are often generous sign-up bonuses. The best I recall was a $75 credit towards your DVC annual fees. Not sure what is available now, so be sure and shop around.

We also use it to pay for just about everything. I even have most of my bills (electric, phone, etc) charge directly to it. We earns hundreds of free $$ for each trip. We've also saved 20% on 3 different backstage tours Keys to the Kingdom-saved $24.00, Steamtrain Tour-saved $16.00, and Backstage Magic-saved $80.00. I remember getting a percentage of at the WoD store in DDT too.

$50.00 on board Disney Cruise credit per room booked. We love ours. We use it for everything. We get $750.00 per year in rewards dollars.

We just got our Disney Visa last sept. We got it for the 6 months no interest on cruises. We used it for our deposit - got 6 months no interest plus points. Then used it to pay the balance - got another 6 months no interest. To get the $50 on board credit (in addition to any your TA is offering) you must put the entire cruise on this card.

There are cards out there that would provide more bang for your buck. I like Discover, 1% for everthing and 5% on certain items quarterly.

For example, we usually purchase are "other" vacation in the spring when Discover does the 5% deal on travel. We make out like bandits on that little promo.

You can redeem it for straight cash or with some of their partners where you can double your redemption value for certain vendors.

Just throwing that out there :goodvibes

Why not let your money work for you and pay off every month as you still would not be carrying a balance?

wow 42,900 in cash expenditures in 6 months, $7,150 per month. Would love to know if you are somehow paying a mortgage on your Disney card???
