Disney reward dollars redemption ?

I seem to recall that someone's post indicated I can redeem my Visa Disney Reward dollars at Downtown Disney.

I just spoke with Visa and asked her if I could do that. She never really answered me, but said that on Monday when their system was up and running again (down for servicing) I could call back. She said the card would come in 5-7 days.

Does anyone know if I can redeem them at DD? Do I need to take my last statement with me?

I'm not sure what you're asking. If you have the card (or are getting it before your trip), you can call or go online to transfer DDRD to the amount on your card. It happens pretty quickly. And you don't have to wait until you actually get your statement in the mail--as soon as your close date passes, you can check online for your balance (or call, I suppose) and transfer any amount over $10 to your card. I think the inital transfer is $20.

If you don't have your card and haven't requested one yet, I have heard of people going to customer service or somewhere at DD and getting a card. They then had to call the 800 number I think to actually transfer the DDRD to the card. At least that's how I remember it being explained.

As far as using the balance on the card, you can use it at most places at DD. I believe pretty much anywhere that accepts Disney Dollars should take the Disney Reward Card. I used mine mostly at restaurants around the parks and resorts. Then the balance I had left I used online to order merchandise from the Disney Catalog (what wasn't covered by the DRC, I just put on my Disney Visa).

Here's another question along the same line. I will be paying the balance for my room when we arrive. Can I get those points earned transferred to use while I'm at WDW?

Also, what's the site to get your points transferred for use?

Thanks Eilonwy, I guess I wasn't too clear in my question. What I wanted to know was - can I get/pick up the redemption card at DD, or do I have to get the redemption card through Visa?

You can't transfer the DDRD to the card until your statement closing date has passed. For example, my closing date is the 25th, so anything that I've charged and gets posted to my account before then will be added to my Disney Dream Reward Dollars balance. I can then go online (or call, but I always did it online) and transfer the DDRD to my reward card. My statement usually doesn't arrive until a week after my closing date. I just checked my account, and my statement has closed for the month, but my reward balance hasn't been updated with what I earned this past month (usually it seems to happen right away--maybe tomorrow).

Anyway, you can go to bankone.com/disney to see your account statement, etc. You have to set up your password and stuff if you haven't done that before, but it's pretty easy. Then when you view your statement, there's an option in the drop-down menu to "manage rewards." Then click "view rewards balance" and that will bring up a screen with the DDRD you have available to transfer and there are several other options in another drop-down to transfer them to the card, order the card, etc. As well as view the PDF file about the card--if you haven't read that, you might want to.

As for getting the reward card at Downtown Disney, I have heard of people being able to do it, but I just requested mine a couple months before our trip. I think it came in about 2 weeks, but I can't remember now. Then right before our trip, I added any more DDRD that I had earned since receiving the card, since I had more than 10.

Just remember that there is a separate expiration date for the reward card (mine is 12/04), and any transfered dollars still on the card after that date are lost. If you haven't transferred the DDRD to your card, then they are good for 5 years from when you earned them. Since we aren't planning to go to Disney before the end of this year, I haven't transferred anything since our last trip in December. If something happens and we go, I can always transfer the DDRD then. Or if I want them to buy something at the Disney Store or online, I can do it pretty easily (and also only transfer what I need).
