My fiance and I are going to Disney on the DxDP, and when I made my reservations I made sure to note that one of us has an allergy to onions. One of the main problems with this allergy is how often pre-made items like sauces and soup bases often have onion in them. Will this be a difficult allergy to work around at most restaurants? I've heard chefs are typically good with suggesting/creating alternatives, but we're not usually ones for being a bother. Do you have any onion-free alternatives you'd suggest? Here are our ADRs that I'm having trouble with:

Cali Grill
Citricos
Artist Point
Jiko
Mama Melrose's
Brown Derby

Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't look at it as being a bother. When I went to Disney two years ago, they were wonderful with my daughter's being gluten and casein free! They were so helpful, and we had a wonderful time because of that!

You might want to contact the Special Diets folks at Disney (more info on the DISabilities Board) and they can send you a form where you add all your ADRs and they will contact the various restaurants and let them know about your allergies. I'm eating gluten free and found WDW restaurants to be very helpful in working with allergies.

Not at all. I have a severe allergy to onions. (They cause seizures.) :scared:

Anyhoo, I always make sure the Disney dining is aware before I arrive and once I get there. Never had a problem yet.

We were dining at 'Ohana for breakfast last week and the mom at the table next to us was discussing her allergy to onion powder with the chef. He took it totally in-stride. At Boma earlier in the week, one chef was dealing with special dietary needs most of the time we were there. Smile on his face, filling out forms, speaking gently and reassuringly. His tableside manner was incredible and I feel wonderful about referring our clients to Boma!

Anyone ever have to deal with a peanut alergy?
