I'll make the following statement about staying on property; IF you go to DL and attend the parks "Commando" style ie; in line every morning for rope drop and stay in the parks until closing. Then no, I would not recommend the onsite hotels.

IF you use the DLHs as the resort properties they are ie; use the pools, hot-tubs, and waterslides. Make use of the restaurants, gift shops, coffee shops, character meals, character meet n greets, workout facility, the Disney art work in the lobbies, the hotel in house tv channels that guide you through the park rides, restaurants, gift shops, and events, etc. Then yes, it is worth it to stay at one of the DLHs. Also by staying at one of the DLHs you never leave the "BUBBLE" and you get early entry

As far as the walk goes from PPH or the DLH, it is a piece of cake. 10 minutes or so or ride the monorail. Years ago, used to go for an invigorating five mile run before breakfast everyday. 10 minute walk to the main gate is a piece of cake

We have stayed offsite three times and did not like it. We now stay OnSite at a DLH or we do not go.
