Disney Resort vs Universal Resort

I'm currently debating between beach club and Portofino bay for a trip in early December. my time will be even for Disney and universal and its quiet short so I don't want to do a split stay. for those of you that have stayed at both, which did you like better? I love Portofino bay but I have never stayed at the beach club.

I know Portofino bay has the benefit of express pass and early mornings but that's not something that's a big deal to me, I'm going at a slow time and will mostly be in the harry potter lands (and I'm not an early riser). thanks!

I have never stayed at Beach Club but I have stayed at Yacht Club. I just stayed at Portofino Bay this past April. Without a doubt I prefer Loews hotels. I mean the proximity to Epcot is great but for the money, I'd stay at Universal.

It just depends where you want to be closer too, I didnt enjoy the Lowes Pacific Resort while we were there, nothing was open late to get anything to eat and by late i mean 9pm late. At least with the beach club the market place is open til 11pm and they serve the full menu til then,

Not sure when you were last there, but that's not true; at least not anymore. Stayed at Royal Pacific in January 2015 and just last month and both times got food late at the Orchid Court and from Jake's. (DH and I got veggie sushi while DS got pizza...ordered both at Orchid)

We have stayed BW, and Portofino wins without a doubt.

If you are strictly comparing resorts, US resorts blow WDW resorts away. I haven't stayed at PR, but have stayed at the other 2 deluxes. Besides early entry, you get the unlimited express pass for the length of your stay. It is so nice. It also works for most restaurants so you don't need to worry about ADR's.

I too have stayed at yacht club and will be staying there in a a couple of weeks. Not sure if Beach Club is better. But it's our least favorite Disney resort. Portofino Bay is beautiful we loved it. Since it's so expensive
I would do a split stay to reap the benefits of both even if is a short stay.
