Disney Resort Survey

Which of the following special DVC member discounted park tickets would interest you?

  • 5 park days per year (with hopping) for 5 years

  • 7 park days per year (with hopping) for 5 years

  • 7 park days per year (with hopping) for 7 years

  • I am not interested in these options

Results are only viewable after voting.
There doesn't have to be anything in it for Disney ticket division, if DVC negotiates this for the members. There would have to be something in it for DVC to do that however.

And what would be in it for DVC is members who want it and future members.

While the Annual Pass discounts works for some it does not work for everyone. If DVC is seeing comments from members that they want more options, I would think they are at least considering it, hence the survey question.

We have to all remember that with 500,000 members and growing, what we personally like is not going to always be what others like.

Members wanted other perks that were discontinued. Some members want free dining, others want free valet parking. But if dues have to contribute to any perks then it is doubtful it will happen. If DVD Sales deems that it would increase direct sales, then sales will pay for these perks. But again, they would need to be justified through increased sales.

The survey question is not about a direct discount on every ticket option. It is about obligating owners to several years worth of tickets with either an ongoing monthly payment, or a pre-payment upfront. The latter of which flopped already.

Purchasing a multi-day park hopper pass with no expiration is an upfront obligation. It would just be a lower cost for DVC members if they waived the fee for the no expiration part or at least reduced it by 50%.

But, that is not what the survey question is at all. The survey is asking about 5 to 7 days of hopper use per year for 5 to 7 years. Not a no expiraton. Meaning you would have to attend WDW every year and go to the parks for at least 5 days per year. If you have to skip a year for an emergency or illness, you'd lose those days that you paid for. And if you wanted to travel to WDW more than 5 to 7 days in a year, the ticket also would not work for you. You would not be able to travel to WDW more than once a year and use the ticket, unlike a non-expiring ticket where you chose how often you actually use it. That is exactly the way the other discounted ticket worked, and it flopped.

This is exactly why they should not be thinking about repeating it!!! IMHO

So why not give 25 days for 5 years, to use whenever? Or 35 over 7, or whatever. This way a skipped year wouldn't cause waste (I know, Disney doesn't care b/c it's paid for), but the reality is that people might be more inclined to buy such a pass and ultimately they would probably use up the park visits faster in many cases than the alloted 5/7 years; whereas if you can only use 5 visits a year, you are not buying a new ticket until year 6.

It's sort of a marriage of the non-expiring hopper and the options they are floating via this survey. And since the non-expiring sells and the previous discount ticket flopped, I think such an option would sell.

If some type of interest, feedback from members etc. had not been shown the survey question would not have been asked.

I just really think there are many members that the annual pass does not work for them and those members have expressed that to DVC.

As to the point about the tickets expiring, the same could be said for an annual pass. You really have to use it for 11 days or more for it to be a financial benefit. It is very possible that someone would buy the AP and then not be able to come back for that second trip.

We are not able to stay more than a week at a time anymore due to work schedules. If we buy an annual pass and are not able to come back before that year expires we have not saved any money.

So while I would not want them to take away the AP discount, I would appreciate them adding some other options. I would never want the discounts to only benefit me or my family, that would be selfish.
