Disney Resort hotel parking cost

I so wish there were a way to charge off-site to pay for transportation, including limiting off-sites to the MK ferry and making the monorail an on-site only thing.

As far as being able to have someone scan their band, just put them at the entrances to the line. In MK, put the tap stile at the bottom of the ramp. There's usually cast members standing there anyway.

For buses, same thing. Put the tap stile at the beginning of the line or the depot.

Cause they use Disney transportation, which they pay Disney for, so their resort fee I feel is somewhat justified.
My point is they charge the resort fee, no mention of transportation. So unlikely that Disney would put a resort fee out and claim it includes transportation. I think in both cases, transportation is part of your room rate. Or part of your ticket, which would include offsite.

I can't see Disney limiting the monorail to resort guests only. Dining reservations, passholders, it being one of the only ways to get to MK from TTC, etc. They want guests to spend money on-site, so why would they make it even more difficult to get around to do so?

I guess I meant to include anyone, BUT off-site guests. So, those with reservations, passholders, etc, would be included.

Resort guests are paying for that transportation. I know you could argue it's in the ticket pricing, but I don't feel it is since the resorts are destinations while staying at Disney. I also believe I read somewhere a long time ago that the resorts pay a "fee" to transportation since resorts are independently operated under one big Disney umbrella.

It is ONE of the only ways, but not THE only way. The monorail is expensive to maintain and upgrade. If you want to ride the monorail, get a Disney hotel.

I agree, they want to encourage people to visit the hotels. Plus the logistics of charging someone to get on the monorail or checking if they have a reservation would be cumbersome.

I can follow what you mean, but I just don't find it feasible. For one, tapping a band/card is not exactly a quick process. Just take a glance at the entry gates or any popular fastpass attraction. Two, the logistics of confirming dining reservations, annual pass status, hotel reservations, etc. just to let someone on a bus or the monorail at peak time seems like a logistical nightmare and a great way to tick off ALL guests.

Exactly. To say it can't be done means it won't ever get done. Like Walt said "don't be afraid to fail"

Look at all the inventions made. Rarely, very rarely, where they invented on the first try. Some even done by accident. Look at post it while looking for something else it got discovered.

There was a time that you had to show your room key card to use the resort monorail loop. This was enforced during busy time. It is my understanding that the resorts pay for the transportation. If they want to pay a lot, there is better service. I believe that Disney wants people to use the transportation instead of driving from park to park and to dining reservations at the resorts. The logistics of tens of thousands of people driving around the property are daunting. When the tickets were paper, if I recall correctly, it stated that the price included use of the transportation system. In either case, guests have paid for transportation at the resorts in the cost of their room. Other guests pay for transportation with their tickets. I doubt that many day guests spend much time using transportation to resorts unless they have a dining reservation. I always assumed that Disney made resort to resort transportation difficult.
