They already treat all of us like criminals when we enter the parks every day, why not this too?
I called yesterday about this, we're heading down with our GSD soon and I wanted to find out if they are still respecting the Pluto door hangers. They are. Also it's just at the deluxe resorts now. They will be expanding to more resorts sometime in mid to late January per a duty manager.
Some have called it "security theater" and it MOST DEFINITELY is.
I think we can all agree that the Vegas murderer was about as worst case scenario as one could imagine. Disney's new room checks would have done zero to stop that event had MGM had the same policy. Housekeeping was in his room every day and never saw anything out of the ordinary, save a couple extra bags of luggage. He didn't break them out till that fateful afternoon just before the concert.
Per the duty manager I spoke to, they will NOT be opening any luggage or the in room safe. So, there goes the last 'if it keeps everyone safe' argument. It won't. Not one bit.
Which begs the question, whats the actual point of these room checks? Other than hassling guests, what do these checks actually accomplish?
