Disney release preview of avatar attractions

The bioluminescent plants and walkways wil be incredible for an already great park. Very excited for what avatar brings.

Agreed. Along with Rivers of Light, I'm excited to see what nighttime at AK will be like when all the work is done.

It looks amazing! Even though I'm not crazy about Avatar itself, I cannot WAIT to see how they pull this off. It's going to be beautiful, I have no doubt.

This is exactly how I feel. This new "land" sounds as incredible as Avatar wasn't. Thankfully, my feelings on attractions have very little to do with the films they're inspired by. Like, I love The Little Mermaid, but do not care for Ariel's ride.

Also insider info does say the budget was cut a little bit by maybe 200 million.

Update: an insider says the original budget was about 700 million and has been decreased by 2-300 million so we are looking at 4-500 total.

Original plans called for three attractions that's where the extra money came in and why it's now 500ish million.

It looks interesting...hope we get alot more details over the next year or so than a 35 sec tease...

I can do without the Cameron/Staggs gratuitous FaceTime too ;)

When did Cameron turn so grey?

These pictures look amazing! Let's hope that there is no more budget slashing.

Cameron has been that grey for a while now. I think they are pretty far into it for there to be more budget slashing other than maybe entertainment or something. But the big stuff has foundations poured and steel up.

So wait, from 3 attractions down to 2? Will still leave that park needing more.

It does look very neat. I too did not care for the movie that much, but the land looks pretty cool.

That was never in doubt...

Avatar was never going to "finish the park"...

They still would need to retrofit and area - probably dinoland - to a more "kids centric" place and add a land area between Asia and dinoland. Austrailian will always make the most sense.

They just have to want to do it.

If that were done...ak becomes the second most interesting park In Florida...assuming EPCOT still has limited appeal to the dedicated "family crowd"

I guess what I was implying is that I'm disappointed. Build up of awesomeness for two rides that is going to take about 4 years. It's like you always say, they do the bare minimum.

If I'm a Star Wars fan I'm not feeling too upbeat about how they will handle that in the parks based on this.

It does leave you with that feeling. If there's any hope at all, its that Star Wars is a much stronger property. The Avatar trilogy is only 1/3 done and, if the indifferent/negative comments people are making about the money they're spending on it in AK is any indication, it's not exactly knocking anyone's socks off.

I hear you and agree 100%

Announced in September of 2011...if I'm not mistaken.

Nothing should take that long.

Just like this "we want to do it right" junk with Star Wars...
It's stall tactics.

I could build a classic Star Wars ride in 2 years if they gave me the budget and the labor...

Where's the mystery?
