I heard the other day that Microsoft is also interested in making an offer.
Any truth to this rumor???

There was no doubt in my mind that Disney would reject the offer. It's up to Comcast now to decide if they want to go for a hostile take over.

NPR this morning was commenting that they believed the merger would fail, but that Eisner and associates would be forced out.

IIRC, MS was interested in creating content for Disney and providing DRM services. I hadn't heard that they were interested in buying them.

Oh, I see!
Thanks for clearing that up! :o

This takeover bid makes me feel

:(:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Comcast did say that they want to restore the "magic" of the parks. But why do I have a sinking feeling about the whole thing? Something tells me that no matter what happens, nothing good will come of it.

Yes, the board voted no, but there could be a hostile takeover where the vote is put to the stockholders. We are stockholders and we would never vote for this. I hope all other stockholders feel the same. Comcast just doesn't have anything to offer.

I agree, Comcast is making this deal primarily for ESPN, IMO. So they would then have programming and a distribution channel. Cable nirvana. Disney also owns ABC and ABC Family Channel, all the Disney channels (of course). Any others?

I read a report today that Comcast is not interested in increasing its bid. So, if the stock price stays up, we might be okay. The best thing that could happen is if Disney dumped Eisner now. Then the stock would rise again, hopefully putting an end to Comcast's interest. Could it be that all this might lead to the best possible resolution- an independent, Eisner-free Disney?

Why don't people like Eisner?? Just curious, since I don't really follow the business aspect of Disney very closely... even though I am a business student haha. We read a business case about how Eisner "saved" Disney in the 1980's or something, so I thought he was good for the company but I keep hearing people on this board say they want him out and I'm just wondering why?

For anyone more interested in this topic, I recommend visiting the Rumors board. There are alot of business-savvy people discussing the matter, and makes it all more understandable.

I have been very sad since I've heard about the whole ordeal. After reading yesterday about Comcast being a huge provider of cable porn, I was totally shocked. This is something we do not need along with the Disney name and reputation.

I'm still waiting to receive my stockholder voting info...

Comcast a huge provider of porn.

GIVE ME A BREAK.

They do not make the movies. They provide a product to their customers. Why don't you harp on all of the people who order these adult pay per view movies.

I'm also sick of hearing people complain about their cable bills.

If you are sick of your high cable bill-blame Disney. Comcast has to pay Disney for ESPN. ESPN is the most expensive cable channel there is and also the most popular. Disney raises their prices for ESPN every year.

If the merger were to go through your cable bills would probably go down.

There are a lot of hard working people employed by Comcast who work their tails off trying to provide for their families. I'm sick of seeing all the Comcast employees grouped into one type. Some of them are quite intelligent and actually know what they are doing.
