Did anyone else get into the registry with stars in their eyes and then realize that they keep 7%?? I just now found this out and I can't believe it. They are already getting thousands out of me and they gouge me for 7% to make a transfer or print a check? I wouldve been fine with 3% maybe but its not like its obvious you will be charged. And even after reading the FAQ the only way to actually know the percentage is to do the math, its not explicitly stated anywhere. I understand a fee but not 7% and not if it isnt disclosed from the start. I don't know what to do though because the guests all have the info and think that is the way to send us gifts. Sorry just ranting but I know how Disney works so anything they do is at a premium compared to any other online registry in the history of online.

Yes. The registry is Disney branded but not run by Disney, and that company takes a hefty cut. There is a way to make your guests pay the 7% fee up front instead of having it taken out of what you get, but that seems less than ideal too. Most other honeymoon registries have similar or only slightly lower fees. The lowest fees I've found are Wanderable's —2.5% plus a 3% fee for guests only if they use PayPal.

Yes we just found this out too...when looking at the registry.
Website just says a fee.. So glad when decided to email them first to find out what that fee was.

Don't think it's worth it...in our own opinion

They sell on the fact that you will know what your getting ahead of time...and you can plan to do those things.

Ummm think we will just do a cash wishing well...and the way we are looking at it...is that money will just go back to our savings account...to pay for the things we wanna do at WDW/ already paid for.
And not have to loose any money to their 7% fee. Crazy.
Since the registry just gives you the dollar amount guest spent...then take 7% to mail or direct deposit your money.

Just our two cents

My Fiancee was way over-excited when she found out there even was a honeymoon registry. I didn't think there were fees at all until earlier today, we got a gift and when I clicked to check the totals I saw the missing 7% from all the gifts(calculator helped of course). I could understand a small fee maybe something like 3% at the most, but 7 is just taking advantage of awestruck young bride's who have been dreaming of a disney wedding or honeymoon all their lives. I told my fiancee today and she wasn't even bothered so I just had to vent. It's all going to WDW in the end anyway!! :lmao:

Yeah you make a good point. I checked into honeyfund and that wasn't much better. I just have to remember what its for and Im fine, Im going to add some other randomstuff we wouldnt have actually done just to cover it! ;)

You could register for Disney gift cards at bed bath and beyond... That would work, wouldn't it?

Or register for them at Target. If people use their red card, either credit or debit, they save 5%. Before each trip DH and I each use our card to buy a few gift cards each pay period.

We haven't launched our honeymoon registry yet since we're still a bit over a year out. Looks like we might use Travelers Joy because they only take a cut from me not my guests. Plus I know some family just won't do it and just give us cash. I feel okay having to pay that convenience fee. The site will look great and be easy to manage. That's worth it to me.

This is why we opted out of the Disney registry. I couldn't stomach having our guests pay so much to be there and basically throwing away 7%. I understand these places have overhead, but 7% is ridiculous in my opinion.
