The Magic Kingdom
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Walt Disney World is raising the price of a one-day, one-park ticket to 67 dollars.

Disney doesn't release attendance figures and declined to comment on why they raised ticket prices for the second time this year.

The four-dollar increase takes effect Sunday. The new price will also effect the company's "Magic Your Way" flexible ticket plans, which allows guests to purchase cheaper packages if they stay longer or visit multiple parks.

When Disney raised its price from 59 dollars, 75 cents to 63 dollars plus tax in January, Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando also raised their ticket prices. Price wars have become an annual rite between the three major theme parks.

In January, Universal raised its admission price to 63 dollars and SeaWorld raised its price to 61 dollars, 95 cents.

A spokeswoman for SeaWorld says they had no plans to raise prices in response to Disney's announcement today.

Hopefully Universal doesn't follow suit. They really have no reason to and I don't think they will look inferior by having a ticket price of a few dollars less (the common response as to why they also raised ticket prices). If they open a major attraction next year, then okay. But otherwise, I really hope they don't.

I just got an email from Sue Ellen, our Dreams Unlimited TA (moderator on resort board). Not only is Disney raising the prices but effective September 1, 2006, Orange County is raising it's tax rate too! :( Glad I pay off my package for US next week.

I hear ya but sadly I think Universal and SeaWorld will follow suit. Only time will tell I guess. :sad2:

Until they clean up their act, Disney should be lowering prices, not constantly raising them, which in turn causes the other parks to follow suit.
