Disney Races kill Hotel availability

HoJo and Desert Palms are booked solid for the Race weekend. But....still available for the busiest time of year - Christmas vacation, including Christmas day. I can't present a better piece of evidence than that.
While this is true, bibs were purchased in Jan, and if I am paying for bibs, I am going to make sure I have a room. I booked my room in Jan. My room was actually cheaper than what I paid for this weekend at DL. It all depends on when you book. And a LOT cheaper than what I am paying for a room 10 days from now when I return for the train and ROA reopening!

This is what I'm talking about. I usually book in Feb/March for a November trip. That's 7-8 months ahead of time. But even with that much time allotted, I was not able to book at some of the places I was wanting to try this time (due to HoJo not having their superior rooms for Nov/Dec). Desert Palms, Fairfield and Park Place (places that fit 5 easily) were already booked solid for that weekend. And while some availability has opened up in the last month, the prices are crazy high for mid-November. And that's because racers had booked up all the prime spots very early. I think that's the point I've been making. And this is more information that explains why hotels have been so hard to get. Thanks. I do believe I'll be moving my future trips to avoid all races.

I thought you weren't going to back to DLR after these APs expire. I also thought your wife was going to get them refunded because you weren't happy with the refurb schedule as well. You knew you were going that week last year when you bought the APs, you knew it was a race weekend and when the bibs went on sale was announced with plenty of notice by Disney and you knew it was a crowded weekend when you went last year. Why didn't you plan to book a hotel before the bib sale?

Simple answer don't like it don't go. You tend to come on here and bash everything Disney but continue to give them your money. I just don't get it. I've run the races at both parks and honestly the crowds at Disneyland really weren't that bad. Sure blame us runners but you are a Disney fan who was aware of the fact runDisney exists and it can affect crowd levels and hotel availability. With that said you still booked a trip during an event. Seems like you are setting yourself to come back and post yet another thread about how terrible Disneyland has become and how much you dislike everything they have changed.

Just like with D23 Expo this weekend the fact hotels are full does not always dictate more crowds in the parks. Also think it is hilarious that you think you can tell who is a runner and who is not just based on their shoes. All my friends and I wear running sneakers when we are at any amusement park because they are better for your feet when doing a ton of walking and standing. Maybe try our "fancy sneakers" before you just assume everyone wearing them in an annoying runner ruining your family vacation.

Sorry but you can't poke the bear and expect to get off with out getting flamed.

I will add that I have Hojo booked for Star Wars weekend already. I booked a number of months ago and my rate is definitely cheaper than what I'm paying in 3 weeks! When you book definitely plays a huge roll in your rate!
