I have a DS aged 13 and a DD aged 16, They are interested in going to Disney Quest, can anyone tell me if they think its ok to drop them off and leave them for the day

thanks

My girls are those ages, and I wouldnt' have a problem letting them hang there for a day,, but I have to join in the fun too. I love Disney Quest! Just give them some cash for drinks and food, and let rip. It's a blast there :)

Dunno about a whole day there tho,, I think that may be alot of time,, we usually spend about 2 to 4 hours at a time there.

I shouldn't think there would be a problem leaving your children there. DW and I have been several times and we have noticed plenty of US kids who were dropped at the door by an adult and collected later on.

If you are planning on leaving them there for the day I would recommend that you leave them some way of contacting you if they want collecting. A day is probably a long time to stay in DQ we usually go in the evening for a couple of hours and then move on to get something to eat and browse a few of the shops in Downtown Disney.

We usually plan a couple of visits to DQ into our trip as there is lots to do there than adults can enjoy as well as children and a few things that you can participate in as a family.

I would agree that a day is a long time at DQ, it's possible they'll find plenty to do there for that time, but more likely that after half a day they are DQ'd out. I don't think there is anything wrong with dropping them at that age, letting them go explore and collect them later on. I probably wouldn't do that with two 13 year olds but having one of 16 makes a big difference IMHO.

Given the very large "gap" in the possibility of how long they'd enjoy there (could be 2 hours could be 10) I think it's essential that they have some means of contacting you unless the time they spend there is on the bottom end of that range. If you and partner wanted to watch a particular movie that would probably be about the right amount of time to say, meet you back here in 3 hours ( I'd suggest a meeting place where you can buy a drink and wait cos sure as eggs are eggs they will be "fashionably" late LOL. If you'd had two boys leaving them while you went shopping would probably have been a decent option, but with a 16 Y old DD I'd guess not taking her to the outlet malls would be grounds for a law case on her behalf :D . I'm sure there are a few things that you and your partner would like to do for a few hours with out the kids being around  . I do think that a whole day would probably be too long.

We went there last august with our two teenagers aged 13 and 14, stayed about 6 hours and did almost everything. I think the children would be safe so long as you can rely on them being sensible!!

I just wanted to add that the weather can dictate the crowds at DQ during the day. If it's sunny,, people will generally be out at the parks, so the kids will go thru most of the really neat games there quickly,, if it's afternoon storm time, DQ can get quite crowded, and the queues will be quite long for the more popular attractions.

many thanks for your advice, the kids are very sensible and so will probably leave them there for a few hours. All your replies have definately helped me put my mind at ease - the kids are pleased too!!:hyper:
