First off, I would like to correct Pete in that there was indeed a Disney Quest in Chicago. It was not there a long time but I greatly miss it and this is why: For heavens sake, it was Disney here in Chicago! It was so nice to have a Disney owned establishment here in the Midwest. Granted it was nothing like Disney World, it did however hold me off until my next visits down South.

We went to DisneyQuest a couple of times when it first opened. It was fun. The only reason we stopped going is because they switched from pay as you go to a flat fee. That ruined it completely. With the original model, we could stop in for an hour or so after being in the parks or on a non-park day or just for lunch. Once it became a flat price, there was no point in going anymore. No way are we spending over $130 for the 3 of us to go play a few video games.

I SO enjoyed it when I went a few times years ago. For me it became not being able to stand and walk around long enough to really enjoy the games, but not feeling I would be happy/comfortable enough to play enjoyably if I got an ECV full time when I started having to use one in the parks. I always get wistful when I see pics, or think about it.

I actually totally remember my 1st time there, after being there since opening that morning, I ran out to meet friends last-minute for a dinner reservation, and could not WAIT to go back until closing. My friend and I also remember me yelling "I LOOOOOVE that place!". I had found my video game heaven. :)

I like the flat rate model because I don't want to be nickel and dimed. Which in Disney World would be a metaphor for $5 and $10'd. However $48 is way too much. Tried it once with bonus admissions we'd gotten with travel agent packages, and would do it again for $24.95, but they're charging about double what I'd consider reasonable.

There are times when a flat rate is better - like at a theme park. But I expect to pay as I go at an arcade, a carnival, the boardwalk down the shore, etc. Disney tried to make this an all-day, or at least half-day, destination and I just don't think it is.

We went when it was a flat rate, and I think part of our ticket package. My kids were 11 and 10 at the time, and we had so much fun. We spent hours in there. Went back when Kelly was in her late teens and paid the flat rate. I remember it being $25 at the time. Again, she and I had so much fun. It's a shame that they didn't keep up with technology or change it up in there.

We did it years ago when it was a flat rate, I think around $30 per person. I remember trying to make sure we did everything to get "value" out of the ticket and it just wasn't there. The virtual roller coaster and tank bumper cars were cool, but nothing new or unique to Disney. In the end I decided $15 at Fantasia Gardens was a better afternoon than DQ.

Exactly. I don't think the value was there with the flat rate price, especially as the price rose and the experience really didn't change. $45/person is just ridiculous when you consider that on a multi-day ticket, going into the parks is as little as $41/day.

DisneyQuest was cool some years ago esp the virtual roller coaster. When I was with my young niece, it was the perfect ride because she could control the coaster design and so felt empowered to eventually tackle the bigger rides. We spent hours on that ride. I really hope that the talked about development of Future World includes some form of virtual or build your own coaster. The animation desks they had there were also good . . . not as good as the Animation Academy in HS . . . but still good.

The last few times we stayed we stayed on property, free admission to DisneyQuest for one day was included in our coupon packet. Never used it. I agree that HyperSpaceMountain was probably the best thing it had going for it and Disney should just relocate the machines to Innoventions in EPCOT.

we always went to disneyquest multiple times during our annual visits to WDW...
since it was included in our ticket, it was easy to pop in for just an hour or two...often when it was raining - so pretty much every day....
and we were hoping that they would keep it on life support long enough for our upcoming visit in august...
but alas, it's being replaced with some stupid boring uninteresting sports garbage...blech..

favorite parts of DQ? each of us had our own favorite thing - mine was that duckbill hockey thing? whatever it was called.. stupid i know, but i loved it (maybe because i always won?)
i also loved the astroblaster... the cars you ride in and shoot at each other...yeah...i love all the stupid things..

my kids loved the car racing game...that one where everyone sits next to each other and competes......they could ride that one over and over and over..

and DD and i had a blast on the roller coaster (though we always did the most ridiculous things)..

and we all loved the stupid japanese dance machines....so fun...

anyway....a great way to spend a couple of hours on a rainy day....

totally sucks that it won't be there in august when we visit.... :(

oh...just thought of another cool thing...that pirate treasure something or other....that's at DQ isn't it....that's a really cool game...

now that i think about it, there's tons of fun stuff there......also the virtual reality stuff..
the shooting games...the animation stuff...

the only thing not great about it was they let it die....
not nice disney...

oh and my son in law's favorite thing at DQ is the fixit felix game...he can play it for hours...

My family loves various things about quest, but I have to say my favorite thing is how much my dad loves the place. He can play games from his youth for hours and hours. I loved pirates because we could all play together. Though I think the cheesecake factory should get an honorable mention.

I honestly don't think its thaaaat terrible.... i spent quite a bit of time in there until I discovered beer. Now Raglan Road has my heart...sigh

Is Disney Quest, in the short time it has left, still included with the "Water Parks and more" ticket option?

The water park and more option no longer exists. It's now the park hopper plus. I don't believe it is included in that anymore but I could be wrong.

You are correct. It's golf, Wide World of Sports, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon

Wow - great - I had this added onto my ticket for free, as a perk of buying 10-day non-expiring park hoppers a couple of years ago, before they did away with the no-expiration. My thought at the time was "well - at least I can use them for DQ". Guess that takes away from that.

But - I am totally grateful - that I HAVE the tix, that that was added for free (and I can still use for golf if I choose to. Never been to a water park, wouldn't go, same with WW(OS), and that you guys provided me the info!! :) :)

I know that it is officially not park of the parkhopper plus option anymore, but according to Mousesavers, in practice they still honor DQ as part of it. Anyone have any recent experience about this?
