We have never been. Is it worth it? Is there a discount? We have a seven year old d/s and will be staying at S.S. for the first time. We have only stayed at BWV our first home and have added S.S..
We stayed at SSR this August and my DH took our boys (aged 9 and 8) over to DQ (Disney Quest, not Dairy Queen!)
From the boys' perspective, DQ "rocks". I wouldn't take a child much younger than perhaps 6, though, because in order to really get the $$ out of the experience, you need to be big enough -- there were some things they were disappointed to be too "short" for! And also, with video stuff, being able to read always helps. We elected not to take our 4 yr old to DQ at the time of our trip (I took her to MK for the day instead , doing the sort of "girl stuff" that would have made her brothers gag.) Now that our 4 yr old is reading, she is much less frustrated with video games! Sometimes she would be trying to play and would end up setting it to French language... I admire her spirit of adventure, but I was of no help to her once she did that!

) Even so, she's still a bit too short yet -- we might try her when she turns 6 (unless she gets a crazy growth spurt going real soon!)
If your child likes computer games, "virtual" video games, etc this place will be appealing. My one son loved the Daytona racing games and "build your roller coaster", for example.
As for SSR, we really loved our stay there -- very nice place, super nice CMs, great Community Hall, poolside games, etc. And it's so darn convenient to DTD! That was a big plus for us, since my kids happen to think DTD is the 5th park....
AS FOR DISCOUNTS -- we got our DQ tickets through a Ticket broker for less than the
DVC discount... I think we used Ticketmania. But I recall that officialticketcenter.com also sells them, again, at much better rates than the DVC discount. (Like 10-11 bucks off an adult ticket price, versus only 3 bucks or so discount with DVC). You may want to shop around.
