Sorry for the vague title.

We've never been to downtown Disney and we're making another trip to the World next fall. There will be 7 of us (4 adults and 3 boys ages 10, 12, 12) I would love to take a trip over to downtown. We won't be interested in Pleasure Island and stuff like that but I think the boys (and maybe us adults) would love a day at Disney Quest and the place with all the Lego models. Are the Legos a specific store type thing or are there just these Lego statues thrown about? I just read a bit about Disney Quest and I just want to make sure I have this right....you pay an admission and have use of everything in there but then if you want to play the redemption games or to buy anything, then it's extra, right? I'm assuming the redemption games are a quarter a piece (maybe 50cents)? And would we be able to make a day out of DisneyQuest and walking around anything else that is down there? Thanks in advance.

The LEGO Store is actually a store with large LEGO models inside and out, and a small play area outside with a slide, and LEGOs to play with for the kids. DisneyQuest: you don't pay to play the video games, only the games that you receive prizes. For ex: they have a station there where you can design your own toy like Sid from Toy Story (mix and match toy parts). It doesn't cost to do it, but you can have your "toy" made and purchase it. Things like skee ball where you can redeem for prizes are also extra. I hope that makes sense!

Ok, makes sense to me. Do you know if they have brochures for downtown Disney? If so, I'd like to send away for some.

I think you could easily spend a day at DTD and DisneyQuest. DH and I had free upgrades to whatever the park tickets are that include DQ. We decided to try DQ on the day my parents took our kids to MK. We had fun, but were very glad we didn't actually PAY to get in there... However, we're both in our mid-thirties and were never really into video games. We did have fun playing all of the 80s arcade games for free! We were there during a very slow time in January and experienced all the major attractions once and played bunches of 80s games and were done in an hour and a half. We would NEVER pay to go back.

However, your kids are probably the ideal age to love DQ. They could probably spend hours and hours there. My advice would be to go at open on a non-rainy day and they will probably be able to do all the major attractions several times with short waits and have tons of time for all the free video games (also have new ones, not just 80s.)

The play area at the Lego store is more geared toward younger kids, but they have building areas that are fun for everyone and often have someone building something really cool. The sculptures are great and it's fun to shop in a store that sells nothing but Legos.

You can check out DTD and DisneyQuest on the official web site. There are brochures in each resort detailing DTD, do you know anyone going soon who could get one?

I have heard that DQ is closing -- does anyone else know if and when this will happen? We are going there in mid October and would love to kill a few hours. We are getting the water park option with our tickets and I believe that DQ is included as one of the plusses. Is this also true?

Last I heard, it was scheduled to close in early 2008, so no worries for your vacation! :thumbsup2
