Disney provided Wheelchairs in queues: plus size friendly?

Anyone have any experience with the wheel chairs provided by Disney when transferring from ecv at ride queues? Are they plus size friendly? I have a broken foot and can walk some in my walking boot but I know some of the queues are really long especially since social distancing.

I've used the Disney-supplied wheelchairs at a couple rides, like Pirates of the Caribbean and Winnie the Pooh. Although I'm not positive, I don't think they were plus size friendly.

Most ride queues allow scooters. Try out the provided wheelchair at the first attraction where transferring is required. If it doesn't work then you will have to skip those rides. Fortunately, there are not too many rides where this is required.

Maybe, you could rent a Disney plus size friendly wheelchair that someone could push empty. Then, do those attractions requiring one first. Then, bring it back and drop it off at the rental. Now, use your scooter for the rest of the day. I would hope the wheelchair rental would have different sizes.

The other option is to postpone your trip until you can walk the ride queue if the ride is that important to you.

They actually have two sizes, although sometimes when we approach a ride it has only the standard (not plus-size) on hand. If there's another attraction with wheelchairs nearby and the cast member isn't too busy, you might ask if they can check around for one.

When we had to transfer out of my power chair into the Disney-provided manual chair, the CM gave me the larger chair because it apparently pushed easier than the other ones available at the time. She made mention of it being a bariatric chair, if that helps gauge size at all. I am not small and there was quite a bit of extra room in the chair, such that it would likely be fine - certainly for the few minutes it takes to get through the Pirates queue once they send you down the other ramp.

On the few attractions where you have to transfer, I have always been able to get a plus sizes chair that works for me. They usually have both sizes available, unless they are in use, in which case they might suggest you come back in a little bit or be able to find one for you. Just a note that sometimes they keep the wider chairs in a separate spot so that those that actually need the wider chairs can get them, in those cases you need to ask the CM for them. The width is the same as the wide chairs you can rent at the front of the park.

Additionally, it should be noted that the following attractions will initially say you need to transfer to a regular wheelchair for the queues, but they do have an alternate entrance that ECVs can be taken through if the wheelchair won't work for you:

• Buzz
• Tower of Terror
• Rockin Roller Coaster
• Test Track
• Star Tours sometimes will tell you this, but does have an alternate available

Please note that the alternate entrances at these attractions will generally skip any applicable preshows, although many of the preshows aren't being used right now anyway.

Also, Haunted Mansion normally doesn't allow ECVs through the queue, but is currently using an alternate entrance that does.

Pirates does have an alternate entrance, but I haven't seen it used in many years as it does involve being escorted backstage. I do know it exists because I have used it before Pirates got FP.

They do, but be sure to test how well they propel if you’re going to be pushing yourself as they’re what we in the wheelchair world call a “Grandma Special“ in that they’re usua run down and have armrests that are extremely tall and cumbersome if you can’t have anything rubbing against your arms.
