There is a protest now being planned outside Disneyland.

The organization is VMK Kids Unite and they are hosting the event on May 10, 2008.

I am sad to see VMK close and I wish everyone best of luck in these efforts.

CNN has been contacted and hopefully they will follow through this time!

Good luck to everyone doing this, I hope it gets a big turn out! :thumbsup2 I wish I could join in too, but I don't think I can afford a flight from the UK to Cal! Are they planning one in WDW too? Not that I could get there either, I was just wondering.

I hope it works!

I'm not going to be in Disneyland that day, but I wish I would be. Good luck to everyone who's going to participate in this! I will be in WDW next weekend and I plan to wear a "Save VMK" shirt when I'm in the Magic Kingdom.

Thanks Mousefan for the info. Hopefully some Disneyland area peeps can help out. If not in the area, please provide your comments on the site.

If I could be there, I absolutely would! I did post comments on the website, though!

I wish I could be there and i wish the very best luck to anyone who is taking part.
I think disney might just give in (hopefully)

I am curious as to how they think they will hand deliver this stuff to the corp. office. I have worked for a big tv station and I have a friend that works at Disney still in Burbank. Unless you have the right form of id or an appointment with your name listed you can't get in those offices. They would end up delivered to a front desk that isn't going to care to much. And it would be the same thing with the theme parks. Really writing your own letters and mailing them off to adresses given is the best thing you can do yourself. JMO I know its not one that is wanted but its the truth about how the places are. And really they should have probably looked at the weekends in May a little better cause that is Mother's Day weekend. Not exactly how alot of Mom's would want to spend a weekend away.

But a VERY busy time at DLR - nice for getting some attention for a kid-related cause.

I would venture a guess that they'll be taking it to Guest Relations in the park itself. Probably true about delivering the messages to corporate, unless they've got a contact, which they very well may. As for Guest Relations and/or the theme parks not caring...remember a certain little campaign to put a certain little dragon back in a certain little ride at a certain little park? As I recall, a very significant part of that success was attributed to comments passed on via Guest Relations.

No one is saying that we shouldn't keep on mailing letters, but from your other posts, it seems like you think that's the ONLY thing people should be doing. Nothing wrong with covering all bases.

Oh, and spending Mother's Day at Disneyland? I'd be all over it if I could.

Think about it though, most aren't going to have a clue what VMK is or care. They have their plans to get into that park and do whatever and because Sats are busy they want to get in there and do the rides that end up with long lines and not bother with what someone could be protesting, kwim? If there is very little amount of people out there to protest then no one would notice no matter how busy the weekend. I'm curious as to how many have signed up and will actually show. Especially if the weather is as hot as it has been at times lately here. Besides its the theme park and not the corp offices. If they really want to do some sort of protest it would be better served in front of the Burbank offices I would think. Again JMO

Since I can not be there in person, I have left a message to be hand delivered. Every little bit helps the cause.

Well, maybe you could organize one. I'm sure it would do a great deal of good.

Yes but that had to do with theme parks. This does in away but those that work in the theme park departments aren't going to care since it has nothing to do with them. Which is why it would be better off at corp offices where they have those departments and all the major higher ups. I honestly don't think a character in a theme park ride and a online game can be compared but that is me. But there are more times then not that Disney does what it does no matter what the guests/fans say or do. Especially when money is involved.
And no there is nothing wrong with covering all bases but I have seen nothing so far about where things should be taken, to which is those corp offices in Burbank. And the reason I say write is cause it does say alot when a company ends up with piles and piles of letters that let them know they are not happy with things. I have seen more things done when letter writing campaigns happen then anything else. Maybe do as soap opera fans do and find some item that would symbolize the game and each person that writes could get ahold of to send along with a letter. Those are things that can get attention.

And btw, OT a sec, we spend Mother's Day in Disneyland every year. Its a tradition we started years ago and my MIL and SIL and her daughter join us. Its a fun way to spend the day with the kids.

 If you knew me well you would know I am so not an organizer. I can help with ideas but organizing is better left to those that can. I have learned that with 3 kids (one that is now a busy toddler) that you can only be so organized with things. Getting things done...well I'm lucky if I can...or can remember to after being sidetracked by one of them. Now if I still lived up in Burbank that might be different but I'm also about an hour away with a husband that may end up with a promotion (crossing fingers) which will take him away from us more and leaves me to do even more then I do already. By the time I could ever even attempt to sit and organize such a thing I would have very little. Anyone that is parent knows how it is. But I still think that it is better served at that spot then a theme park.
