Disney Princess Auditions

This was several years ago, but I participated in a program at Disney in middle school where they talked to us about what they looked for in new cast members. The number one thing? SMILING. they want to see lots of smiles and positive energy in the interview to show what you'll be like "on stage" :) good luck!

I would go to you tube and there are a lot of videos are there give tips and tricks for these auditions. I stumbled upon them on accident and found myself watching it..ha!

Youtube is MAJOR hit or miss with audition videos. I've seen some that claim they didn't get the role because they didn't have the right color eyes...where performers wear contacts. It's also hit or miss depending on WHAT specific audition you're going to. Every one is slightly different, and depending on WHICH park (ie WDW, DLR, Tokyo, Shanghai) you're auditioning for, the process is very different.

When you are auditioning for Disney World entertainment, you're auditioning for all of it, you may be hanging out eating acorns one day, while the next you're slipping on the glass slippers. If the audition for WDW is listed as a "character look a like" the process will be sign in,get measured, line up and smile while you're looked at, then there will be cuts. AFTER that, you will learn an animation exercise (ie, miming) and a small movement combination that you'll do back to back for the casting directors. A DCP audition, or a parade performer or character performer audition will start with a super easy movement combo, then the animation and a harder dancer combo.

Cruise lines & overseas parks auditions will start with the measuring and signing in, but then will START with the dance portion, as their casts are smaller, they need people who have movement, who can do parades and shows along with meet and greets. WDW you don't necessarily have to have that. Height requirements are also a bit different in the other parks. (mainly HK). After doing the dance portion, if you're kept, you'll do a reading for characters for the parks, cruise line you'll be doing animation, and potentially a harder dance number.

The biggest thing to remember is to SMILE, be radiant from the MOMENT you step into the room, make friends with people around you, chances are they're all in the same boat as you and could turn out to be some of the best friends you'll ever make! Take some basic ballet/jazz classes prior to the audition, to warm your body up into some movement, ballet specifically will help with arm bursting and achieving the grace & poise that you'll need, and they'll help with your ability to quickly pick up choreography. If you mess something up, just keep smiling and keep going.

DO NOT DISNEYBOUND, seriously, this was a MAJOR problem when they were casting those sisters, people were constantly bounding and I saw girls in WIGS! Don't do that, I've also heard not to wear clothing with Disney characters on them, not sure how much that actually affects things. Wear workout clothes that frame your body well, showing off your shape, maybe with a bright colored top. Hair should be pulled back off your face, and your make up should be natural, they want to see what they can do with your face, not how much you can do with it. I usually wear jazz slippers to auditions to help with movement, but runners are completely acceptable too. Know that you will be measured barefoot.

Pre-audition, take care of your body, obviously entertainment performers are all in pretty good shape and take care of themselves, keep your body healthy. It will also help with your skincare, keep hydrated and use product to even out skin tone/rid yourself of acne. I also use whitestrips for me teeth, those smiles are the most important part.

Feel free to pm me if you have specific questions, especially thanks to character integrity, this is about the max I can say on a public forum! Lol.
Break a leg, and never give up on your dreams!! It's ALL ABOUT TIMING!
