Alright, I have had this discussion with many people, including family members, friends, and random people on the streets.

Who do you think is the best Disney Prince and why, give examples of what make them better then another prince.

Here's my answer.

Prince Philip from Sleeping Beauty, is the best prince of all the Disney Princes.
Why?

First off, Prince Philip falls in love with Princess Aurora in the woods before even knowing she is a princess. He was about to go against so many rules, especially since he was already told he was marrying a Princess from when he was younger.

Then, he gets locked in Maleficent's castle:

Escapes from the caslte and many Goblins and Ghouls.
Then fights his way through thorns,
Then fights with a sword and shield against Maleficent's Dragon form!

Then kisses the girl he loves. BAM! Prince Philip for the win.

Most people automatically think Charming, but what did he do? Not much, he didn't even really search for her himself for heaven sake!
LOL

Thought this would be a good convo.

So let's hear it DIS people, who is the best Disney Prince/Guy?

Great idea and Philip's actions certainly put him towards the top, what I wished was that there was more characterization but sadly I find most of the early Disney princes fall into this trap (especially Charming!) Personally that stops me warming to them too much but Philip is definitely the best of the golden age princes.

My favourite princes are the ones who don't initially begin as Mr. Perfect such as the Beast. He begins by imprisoning Belle and her father (not too commendable) and frightens her and his servants by his monstruous temper which reaches its peak in the West Wing. He also threatens to starve her and he shuns the enchantress at the beginning thus presenting him as a monster inside and outside.

Whilst I recognise thats no cause for promoting the Beast I believe the change he undergoes for Belle is. Firstly, he fights off the wolves with his bare hands (probably the most epic fight in a disney film IMO) to save Belle. He learns to curb his temper and his manners (such as attempting to eat with the smallest spoon ever!) in order to impress her which shows his willingness to be a better man for her. His love for Belle extends past his own happiness as he allows her to leave knowing the consequences for himself. He also takes an interest in her likes by presenting her the library and this shows an intimacy between the two rarely seen elsewhere. Beast also heroically turns the other cheek on Gaston and allows him to live despite the latter's murderous attempts therefore contrasting the vicious Beast at the start of the film. On a final note, I get chills everytime when he stops Gaston delivering a fatal blow after Belle calls out to him, really emphasised for me that Beast had truly begun to live solely for Belle =absolutely gorgeous. Beast also didnt have looks to help 'woo' his love interest, instead he had just what eventually turned out to be a beautiful soul.

In conclusion, Beast for me!!

Like the PP, I have to go with Beast. I think that, of the older princes, Prince Philip is the best for precisely the reasons given by the original poster. He's a far more active character than most of the princes (just think of the prince in Snow White). Still, Beast goes through such a transformation, physically and mentally, that he's probably the most compelling prince the Disney animated movies have ever had (at least, IMO).

Hey I love this idea of the older princes and newer princes.

Yea, for the new, would def. have to go with the Beast like you said, he fought things that could take a man a life time to accomplish. But he did it for bell! I always thought this was a good little conversation. Good points!!!

I completely agree with the Beast and Prince Phillip comments but let's not forget about Prince Eric.

After all, he did rescue his dog off of a burning/exploding ship as well as fight a massively massive Ursula.

These three are absolutely in my top 5.

No doubt its the main three everyone has been saying, for me it would probably be Philip, Eric then Beast!

That's a tough one, a cast member in the magic kingdom asked me this once, for me it's (In no particular order)

Eric
Aladdin (even if he's a fake prince )
Beast

The three of them play a big role in the movies and have personalities, Eric takes on a huge sea monster and risks drowning.

Aladdin is just cool

Beast plays a major role in the film and you learn to fall inlove with him like Belle did.

Prince Phillip I guess is a good prince, also plays a good role and takes on the dragon etc.

Prince charming and snow whites prince didn't do much in the movies. I guess some people could argue that Snow Whites prince did a lot since he did bring her back to life which is a major thing but he had no personality at all. and we hardly saw him.

The hottest prince's are imo - Cinderella's Prince Charming, Prince Phillip and maybe Aladdin too!

Forgot about Prince Naveen, I think he's great too :D

I like Snow White,Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.Once upon a time in a great castle, a Prince's daughter grew up happy and contented, in spite of a jealous stepmother. She was very pretty, with blue eyes and long black hair. Her skin was delicate and fair, and so she was called Snow White.

Hmm...my fave Disney prince at the moment is Prince Naveen but when I was younger it was always dreamy Prince Eric. :cloud9: My little sister wanted to jump in and say that her fave prince is Aladdin because, "he's cute and he likes to share his food with people but Abu doesn't". :rotfl: So cute!

I love Eugene Fitzherbert(FlynnRider)! He counts as a prince, right? He changes his heart, and he's one of the few princes that sings! Scores big points for me. Plus, you all have to admit, he's pretty cute :P Before Tangled, it was prince Eric.
