Disney price grabs = downward spiral

So what have we witnessed since the start of this fiscal year?

Cuts in regards to staffing
Rumored $15 resort fee on the guest survey
Preferred tiered parking test
Phase out of the 2nd touch FP+ point in the queue lines
4th FP+ selection to become available on smartphone
Rumored phase out of Free Dining

I can only imagine what comes next: no more extra magic hours. That's right, Disney is now calling guests to reschedule their ADRs. ::sigh::

I'm actually hoping they don't offer free dining this year, purely for my own selfish reasons. Might free up the TS places a bit so we can maybe eat on the fly a few times.

Personally, I have very VERY little faith in humanity when it comes to the FP line and if they take away that second checkpoint, you know every man and his dog (or child) will be ducking under to the FP line where the physical queue permits.

4th FP available on smartphone suits me also, actually, I'm thrilled for that.

The resort fee peeves me more than any of the above.
I HATE how resorts/hotels do that.
If you HAVE to pay it, just include it in the price! The logic just isn't there.

Our airlines do the same thing over here, if it's a fee you hav to pay, it should have to be included in the advertised price, not slapped on at the end.

I'd also prefer less staff cuts, but that's purely for my own benefit (more CMs should mean better/more plentiful service) and for their sake (more hours for CMs)

I, for one, would like to thank llama (aka Bob Iger) for putting profits and shareholder returns first on the Disney agenda. I will be selling all my shares as soon as attendance begins to drop.

I was down there before and after New Years this year. They were turning away people they were so mobbed. Every parking spot in the lots taken and every chair in every restaurant had somebody in it. It was hard to imagine how they could have made more money. This is their solution then

I don't see these as bad things.

Former was already in place on several rides (Splash Mountain is one I can remember). Latter has been coming and is a good thing.

Line jumping: if people are determined to do it, they're going to do it.

Park hours: right around the time the budget cuts were announced (February some time?), all of the park hours for our trip in late May were extended and there are EMH's each night (Thurs-Sun). We'll see, but it doesn't seem like a strict policy moving forward.

Just a friendly suggestion. If attendance at the parks is the metric at which you bought or hold shares of Disney you should sell them immediately and reevaluate. Disney is a conglomerate with many pieces. Park attendance is just but one factor and only a one sided one at that. Less attendance but higher spending average may be more advantageous. Good luck either way!

I think you should refer to some of PJ's prior posts ....;)

I am actually selling 1 square foot sections of @WebmasterPete back yard at a discounted rate to folks who want to join me looking in his back window during tapings of the podcasts. Lots are starting in the low $350,000's

Are you sure Pete's alright with this? I can only wonder what this is going to do to his tax assessment....
