Disney Premier Visa card- anyone upgrading?

I'm a little confused about the bonus points:confused3 (ok, I'm a lot confused). I just got my first statement since the upgrade and everything is broken down by category, Disney, gas, grocery, regular (1%) but nothing listed for bonus....why is that? The way it is calculated so far I'm only getting the 2% and not the 5% for the first 3 months, is this because it's my first statement? Should I expect to see the additional 3% listed on my next statement? Also, how do I know when that promotional period will end? Does it end with the 3rd statement or at the end of the 3rd month (my statements end on the 21st of the month not the last day)?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm just a little confused:confused3 and I would like to pay off my Nov trip before the promotional period ends but I want to push it as far off as I can (and still get the extra points).
Thanks again,
Laurie:goodvibes

This happened to me too and I was told it was becuase my statement closing date was so close to my upgrade date that the additional bonus didn't have time to make the statement. The 2% and 3% are not calculated at the same time. Check again next month to see if your bonus rewards catch up.

Another person here wondering when my 3 month period will end. My statement closes on the 1st of each month. I signed up for the upgrade on Feb 5th. So will I get the extra 3% until May 5th or will it end on May 1st? Our AP's expire mid May and I need to renew them. I can do it now but was hoping to wait until after May 1 so the purchase would be on my June statement. So for those of you that signed up during Jan right after the offer was announced, are you still getting your extra 3%, or don't you know?

My upgrade was on Feb. 3 and my cycle closes on the 1st of every month, too.:goodvibes I received my new (unstolen) credit cards on Tuesday and when I called to activate them I made sure nothing was going to get screwed up with my bonus rewards. I specifically asked if it was 3 billing cycles or 90 days and they said it was 90 days.

I did not upgrade.....am I the only one who didn't?
I just could not go to a yearly fee.....:confused3:sick:

Lots of people passed on the upgrade. Honestly, I am not thrilled with the fee either, but we spent $9000 just in restaurants last year alone, so by the time we factored in all of the other 2% categories, it was more than worth it for us to upgrade. As with anything Disney, it is all about doing the math.:teacher:

Thank you so much for the info. If I hadn't gotten a eply I was going to call and ask. Don't want to miss out on all those points! I need to call anyway since I'm missing some of the extra 3% points. It will probably catch up on my next statement but I want to make sure they know about it.

I just upgraded this morning. While I am not a fan of the annual fee either, I will be paying off my DCL trip in June, and will get the additional 3% rewards which more than pays for that $49 annual fee.

After this year, I will re-evaluate my charges and rewards based ono the 2% and see if it makes sense to renew at the Premier card or go back to the regular card.

KROGER GIFT CARDS 4X FULE POINTS ARE BACK!!

I was at Kroger tonight and their 4X fuel points on gift cards started again today (April 30). Sorry, I don't remmeber the ending date but the promotion is connected to Mother's Day. Bought a bunch since my 90 day extra 3% is going to end in a few days. I upgraded on Feb 3.

Our AP's expire in less than a month for I will be renewing those also!

I upgraded on Feb 3 also. Guess that means our last day for our 90 day period is Wed, May 2.:( The upgrade was suppose to start the day you were approved, right?

So when we buy gift cards at Kroger, does it show up as a 'grocery' purchase? I just upgraded to Premier for the 5% promo (on the last possible date) and have a trip booked in September. I knew that at the Disney Store, gift cards do not qualify for the 5%, but do the ones I buy at other stores do? If so, I'm going to buy $1000 worth to pay our trip off with, and enjoy the free fuel, too! Extra rewards dollars would be the icing on the cake.

Don't know about Disney gift cards, but I bought $1000 worth of WalMart gift cards & got the bonus for those. After our 5% time I'll use those to pay for grocery purchases. I know it's sort of like robbing Peter to pay Paul, but it works for us (and we get the "free" money in exchange.) :thumbsup2

I haven't tried buyng the Dsiney GCs but we buy GCs for restaurants all the time and they have always qualified for the extra rewards. Everything at our Kroger, including Rx's comes up groceries except for gas and that comes up fulel so it hasn't been a problem either.

The Disney Visa spokesperson that I talked to said that the categories are determined by how the merchant signed up when they initially formated their agreement with Visa. For example, Winn Dixie is a grocery store, so they are in the grocery category whether I buy gift cards, groceries, or pharmaceuticals there. WalMart, has 2 separate categories, one for gas (Murphy oil) and the other, which I don't believe is grocery. To summarize, our purchases are categorized according to the merchant, not according to what we buy from the merchant.

Can anyone tell me how long it has taken to post the bonus 5% (really 3%) to the account? I only got the 2% on the first statement. Also, is the bonus percentage for 90 days from the day you change over or for the first 3 statements after you sign over? Thank you in advance.

This was the exact same reason we just upgraded over the weekend. We debated it but with the trip, it made sense. We will also evaluate next year, and just cancel if need be if they don't let us downgrade.

My statement that closed at 11:59 pm on 5/1/12 showed the following numbers:
2% earn - purchases at Disney locations 41.99
2% earn - purchases at gas stations 8.70
2% earn - purchases at grocery stores 20.08
2% earn - purchases at restaurants 15.41
Bonus reward dollars offers 131.27

Notice that the bonus rewards dollars are calcualting higher than the 2% categories would indicate. Given the formula we have been using of adding up all of the 2% categories and dividing them by 2 and then multiplying that number by 3 to get our 3%, the bonus rewards for this set of 2% amounts is equal to $129.27. So this time I got extra rewards. By the end, I'm hoping it all balances out correctly.

So it looks like Chase is indeed calculating the bonus rewards at a slightly different time than the rest. I *should* have all of my bonus rewards by the time I get my June statement (my 90 days was up on 5/2), so I will update you next month.:thumbsup2

Also, to the poster who asked about purchasing gift cards for other stores at Kroger, I have been earning the 5% back on those cards.:thumbsup2

My guess is that the bonuses are being calculated at the end of every 30 day period, not on your statement ending date.

Wanted to give an update: our last statement was "missing" $60+ dollars in bonus rewards. I called Chase, they said they would look in to it and let me know but thought it should "catch up" on the next statement. A few days later we received a letter letting us know they were following up on our call and would let us know their findings. About a week after that, we received another letter telling us they were sorry for their error and had credited our reward dollars the missing amount. The $ amount they said they were crediting matched what I showed we were missing. The whole process took a couple of weeks. So glad for the advice from Smitch & other Dis'ers to follow up. It was hassle free and cleared up promptly and to our satisfaction. Will continue to monitor our rewards, but for this time, we're up to date. :thumbsup2

Glad to hear you got a faster fix than most of us. I should be caught up for the most part by the time my next statement closes, so keep your fingers crossed for me!
