Thinking about getting Disney premier passport.

Wondering if anyone could comment on if they found it to be good value.

Benefits of passport not clear from website, any information on perks would be appreciated.

Hi, I have had one since the program started. I find it to be an incredible value. For the perks just look at the perks for a Premium pass at both DL and WDW. That is what the pass is, a premium for both resorts. No blackout dates either. Good at any turnstile in North America Disney owns. Some would like to see a DVC discount. I am fine with no discount because it is still cheaper than buying premiums at both resorts with the DVC discount.

It gives you Premium AP benefits for both DLR and WDW.

I can't make it work for us this year...we now have a second WDW trip planned (we upgraded to WDW APs in December), but with the ticket specials at DLR I'd have to plan two longer trips there to make the Premier worth it (which is really frustrating for me LOL).

I hope it makes financial sense to you so you can get it! :)

... the 20% discount on purchases has already paid for the pass in vinylmation savings alone :thumbsup2

True, but this pass is still cheaper than buying the equivalent of the two passes bought separately with a DVC discount.

Yeah, that's why I'm coughing up $700 in 3 weeks to get another one of these. I'll be spending 3 weeks at WDW and 1 week at DLR over the next year.

It still hurts when I hand over the credit card.

:sad2:

Well I can't argue that one. Still you must admit the pass is a bargin.

Buying the pass today.... Just arrived at the VGC for a 4 day break.

I also have the pass, but I don't think it's a great bargain for us. I mostly bought it for the novelty and convenience of having one pass.

We don't do water parks (often) at WDW, so ever since PI closed we don't have the need for the WDW premium pass.
We visit DLR often enough, but the days we are there generally would fit in with the cheapo AP with black out days or even a multi day tix. We don't drive to DLR, so no parking savings with that pass.

Not sure if we will renew or not...

We live in So.Cal. and visit Disneyland about every other month for 2-3 days each time. We also are DVC members and hit WDW every year for at least 2 weeks. The Premier pass definitely saves us money. We have always gotten Disneyland and WDW premium passes anyway, so it just makes it more convenient for us to have one pass. We have had one since they started offering it (they automatically sent it since we had both passes already). Disneyland wasn't too clear or happy about the pass, since it was forced on them by WDW, so there were alot of growing pains the first year we had it. It's gotten better now.

Oh that is so true. I remember I was there in Aug. 5 months after the pass was introduced. I was eating at Pizza Omm Oww Oww. Tge cashier asked me if I had a AP. I said I sure do. I handed him my Premier, tge cashier then asked me for the pass I got into tge park with, I told him he was holding it. I have not been since Dec, I do hope some of the growing pains are gone

I think the best perk for PP would be the 20% discount on merchandise.
At DL you get 15% off some dining as well, but not at WDW.

So depending on your visit frequency and shopping habit it could be a great deal.

Good luck on your decision!

That's 15% at pretty much every restaurant in the parks.

But your DVC Member card will get you a 10% discount, so the Premier/Premium only gets you an additional 5%. The AP does get a dsicount at DTD restaurants not covered by the DVC card. -- Suzanne

I bought the Premier Pass this year - and I love it - but I did the math, first.

I was spending JUST enough days at DL to make it worth it - vs. buying a separate ticket for DL and an AP (regular, not prem) for WDW.

I have LOVED the 20% off just about everything from the Premier Passport this year. But - I didn't consider that it the purchase decision. I based that decision solely on how many days I expected to be at DL and how many at WDW.

In October - I gotta alot weird looks with it - but by the time I went back in January - it seemed like all the CM's knew what it was!

I am still debating purchasing the Premier Passport.

I am terrible at math, so if anyone wants to help me, I'd greatly appreciate it.

We are family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids (both kids under age 9) We currently have WDW APs. (non-premium) Our APs expire August 14th. Since we are DVC members we will get the DVC renewal price if we choose to renew them. In early August 2012, we are going to DL for 5 nights/6 days.

So... do I renew our WDW APs this August and just buy DL admission separately? Or do I buy Premier Passports rather than renewing our WDW APs this August, which will then cover our admission to DL next summer. Help!

For us we are visiting DL two trips for a total of eight days and 14 days at WDW.

The cost of passes for both trips is roughly the same as the WP. Add the discount on food etc and we are better off buying the pass.

You didn't say when you're going to WDW. But it's probably not worth a Premier, or least not a Premier for everyone. The DVC renewal is around $350 and you can get a 5 or 6 day DL hopper for around $200. That's $550-$600 for the WDW DVC non-premium AP + DL hopper vs. $700 for the Premier (no word on the renewal rate for the Premier yet, no DVC discount).

We're in a similar boat - it's not quite worth the price difference with a DL park hopper. But I think we're going to get 1 Premier for the additional 5% on food and 10% on merchandise - we think that will at least cover the cost gap. The others in the family will get DL hoppers.
