:thumbsup2 Has anyone stayed there without a car? How did you get around the universal parks etc seaworld..did you use the busses or taxi's? :woohoo:

We stayed there last time without a car. We only went to seaworld and you will have to get to the transportation centre. We took the bus to MK and then got the monorail to the ttc, from there we got the 50 bus which drops you outside of Sea World. I would imagine the easiest and quickest way to get to Universal would be to get a taxi, we didn't go so I can't really advise you on this part.

I'll be staying at Pop carless next week and we'll do malls etc so I'll post the prices when I get back

We always take the Mears bus from Pop Century and if I remember right it costs 8 dollars round trip. They have lots of different pick up times to choose from but you will need to call them the evening before. For your return trip you can either decide at the the time of booking when you would like to return or call them from the park. I think they need you to call something like 2 hours in advance for the trip back to the Pop but the driver will let you know. Last time we didn't have a working cell phone so we decided in advance and it's always worked out really well. The bus picks you up at the entrance of the Pop. They also have the service to Universal/IOA and even some shopping malls.

We did Linx the first year to Sea World and that was fine but I would suggest planning well so you arrive at opening or close to it in order to hit all the shows, if that is important to you. We plan on spending the whole day and evening at Sea World but if you wanted to, at the place where you go to get the bus back to the TTC, well you can catch the I Drive Trolly and go and have dinner somewhere on I Drive. Which I myself would love to do, one day  !

Have fun :) !

We stayed without a car and took a cab to Universal.

I think it was around $40 each way for all of us, but the shuttles are MUCH cheaper!

We are having a week at international drive then week at pop trying to get the best off both worlds. We found it expensive to get taxi to disney last year from international drive (had few days at contemporary for our wedding ) Didn't want to hire a car i believe holidays are not for driving and driving in another country look stressful! We didn't realise you could get transport from disney to anywhere else or we might have stayed at Disney for the two weeks, never mind always next year.

DH and I just returned from 12 days staying at POP and we didn't have a car. We went to both Universal/IOA and Seaworld. We used the Mears shuttle which cost us $15/person round trip. You have to call the night before or no less than 2 hours in advance and have a choice of pickup times like 6:25am, 7:25, 8:25...... You can book your time for return when booking night brfore or we found it easier to go to the park, look at map and guesstimate what time we wanted to return to the hotel and call 2 hours prior from the park. Be advised that sometimes, if there isn't enough people for a shuttle van or bus, Mears will send a taxi to pick you up. The cost is still 15$/person RT and the taxi driver SHOULD give you a voucher for the return trip. I say 'should' because the taxi driver that took us from POP to Seaworld tried to rip us off. The meter read $21.50 when we got there but on his monitor screen from dispatch it said my name and a total owed $30. The driver insisted we pay the $30 but refused to give us a voucher for the return trip and claimed to not know what I was talking about. He suggested I call Mears when getting into the park which I did and reported his cab # (also be sure to write down the confirmation # they give you at time of booking). Needless to say the return trip didn't cost us anything. As for going to Universal/IOA, a bus picked us up from the hotel at 8:25am then went to a few other hotels to pick up other guests. The bus stopped at Seaworld then went on to Universal. We called from the park for pickup time and was returned in a taxi. I think the meter read something like $35. I would say that if there is only 2 or people in your party then the Mears shuttle is the way to go but if your group is larger a taxi/van would be cheaper.
We also used Mears to go to Kennedy Space Center. The bus goes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and picks you up around 8:25am and leaves KSC no later than 6pm. The bus driver is named Jaques and he is quite knowledgable and entertaining. I'm not sure of the cost of this as we prepaid through TA and had a voucher.
The shuttle to Busch Gardens in Tampa was $10/person RT, but the closest pick up spot to POP is the Premium Outlet Center which you had to take a taxi to get to. We chose not to do this and go to Seaworld instead. Petting the dolphins was worth the price of admission.

Did I say 8 dollars round trip  I guess that was each way then, sorry beast lover! I just remember something about 16 dollars, but I guess it was 15...each !

Good post there Kris, lots of useful information :thumbsup2.

Great info KRIS10420, thanks!

Do you know how late the Mears shuttles run from Universal to WDW? We were hoping to have a meal in the Hard Rock Cafe and go to the cinema in Citywalk so we'd probably be done at 9pm but I wonder would they pick us up that late? Thanks! :thumbsup2

Yeah they will pick up late aslong as you let them know...we did that!!!! :cool1:

We did the Lynx bus to Seaworld a couple of times from POP and quite enjoyed it taking the Disney bus to MK and then the ferry across to TTC. One evening we came back on the ferry just as the fireworks were going off at MK and it was lovely to watch from the ferry. Another time we were later leaving Seaworld and just picked up a taxi at the main entrance, think it was about $20.

Its a bit cheaper to take the Disney bus to DTD and then taking a taxi from there to shops, Seaworld etc but never been to Universal so I can't help with that one.
