Just wondering if someone could tell me the cost of a Childs poncho in the parks? Do they generally sell them at the resorts (CSR)? Trying to decide if I should buy them ahead of time or just buy them there if we need them. TIA

adult and child ponchos are the same price...$7.50 We had to buy some on our last trip over Christmas.

I have purchased the ponchos from the Dollar Tree. While they are only $1 they are made that way...can only wear once then they seem to rip. Conversely, we had to get my DD8 a poncho at WDW 3 years ago and it is still great! If you want to save a few bucks you can go to WalMart in the camping section and get those. Or, wait until you are at WDW and only buy them if you need them. ;)

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for the replies! I agree about the dollar store ones. Definitely want something that lasts more than 1 wear. I think I will take my chances and buy them there if needed. Thanks again!:thumbsup2

If you will have a car, the nearby Walmarts have a large Disney section that have them for about $3 or $4. Not official Disney ones but ones with Mickey and princesses on them.

I have a bunch of the cheapo dollar store ones and some disney ones. I usually take the dollar store ones instead of the heavier disney ones. I do this because I don't want to have to carry around the more expensive ones. With the dollar store ones, I don't feel bad if one snags on something and tears, I just toss it. I also don't want to have to refold and keep a wet poncho in the hotel room. So, I put on my trusty dollar store poncho during the day and throw it away in the evening as I'm loading on the resort bus. Just what works for us!

I've had good luck catching them on sale at the Coleman Outlet Store for 50 cents. The cheap ones have been fine for the usually short rains in Orlando. We have a few of the heavy ones also, but usually leave them at home.

I am surprised $7.50 seems like a great price. We bought ours like 15 years ago and bring them back every trip. So worth it to buy a good one.

I like doing this as well, there are 7 in my family and no way am I going to lug around 7 heavy ponchos, then 7 WET heavier ponchos. I carry 7 little cheapo packets of dollar tree ponchos, wear when wet, then throw them away. Works for us as well.

I read somewhere that if you have a Disney one and it gets ripped in the park/resort they'll replace it for free. Is this not true any longer?

Well, I know DH put his on and it ripped by the neck as soon as he walked out the door. We took it back with the receipt and they exchanged it. So keep the receipts!

You don't even need the receipt to exchange it. I had 2 that we bought years ago and they're completely different from the ones they have now. They had mickey on the back. They both ripped on this last trip. I was buying 3 others and was going to buy 2 more to replace the ripped ones when the CM said she would replace them...even though they were years old. She was a manager at mousegears in Epcot.
