Interesting info on the TUG sightings board recently: DVC has made some March and April 2016 SSR deposits into RCI -- that's before the seven-month window opens for non-home bookings. The early April deposits are 8 months out and the March deposits are 7+ months out.

There have been quite a few total villas added outside the 7 month window lately. I think the weekend of 1 April is the latest I've seen. There have been a few last minute deposits. There have been a handfull of OKW options available sitting online and on Monday there were several VWL villas. All I've seen lately have been 1BR villas.

Yep. I know RCI deposits further than seven months out upset many DVC owners, but they really shouldn't.

The biggest reason, of course, is that once an owner uses their points for an RCI exchange, the availability corresponding to those points used is no longer available for DVC points stays. It's gone, so someone waiting patiently for the 7-month window to open would not have access to that villa anyway.

And the other reason is that some DVC owner apparently got an RCI exchange they liked -- and that's a win.

As you note, it shouldn't upset anyone and it wouldn't upset anyone who understood how the system actually works as you describe. The other portion is that in some situations they are required to deposit home resort and if they deposit further out than 7 months, they must deposit home resort.
