disney points question

I wasn't sure which board to ask this on. I'm wondering about the ins and outs of the reward points with the disney CC. We just got it 2 weeks ago and have booked our whole trip on it. We haven't seen any points show up yet (i'm not anticipating seeing any until next month) but do we get points for the resort and flights too? We are using the cc for as many purchases (gas, groceries etc) as we can to try and maximize our points. I'm just not sure how many we get and where we can use them? Is it 2 points per dollar? How many points equal $1? I didn't find any info on the website itself. I'm hoping it's worth it.

You get 1 reward dollar for each $100 you spend, on everything, so basically 1%.

oh wow, ok. Thanks It's going to take a lot of money to have a decent amount of reward $ huh. Well maybe we will have $100 in disney bucks if we are lucky.

As long as you are not carrying a balance, pay off each month, it is "free" money.

We use our Disney Visa all the time for points- especially on big purchases. We travel every 2-3 years to WDW or DCL so they add up and we usually have anywhere between $150 - $300 points accumulated. It will all depend on how much you spend= you certainly don't want to wrack up credit card charges just for free points for Disney, especially with having to pay interest if you're carrying a large balance.
We convert points to a Disney Rewards card usually about 2 wks before our trips and just use that as extra spending money.

If you ordered the Disney Premier Visa, you'll get 2% on certain categories like grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, Disney Vacations, Disney's Photopass, Target / Walmart, Disney gift cards. You will get 1% on everything else.

We just upgraded ours and they are offering 5% on the categories above (that are normally 2%) for the first 3 months. Just check your card to see if you have the regular Disney visa or the premier... that'll help you determine how many points you should be getting....

The 2% is on gas, grocery, restaurants & Disney. Target & Walmart may or may not be included as grocery depending on how that store is coded. Disney gift cards count if purchased from Disney directly or at a grocery store.
