Disney podcast rant.

I've been listening to lots of podcasts I don't usually listen to this weekend to get me through spring cleaning. Love the Dis podcast and a few others that give reliable, current information but I have to say I am dismayed at the amount of podcasts out there giving wrong information ! If you have not seen Impressions de France in 15 years or if you have NEVER seen the Festival of The Lion King or you do not know that the deluxe dining plan comes with an appetizer you should NOT be hosting a Disneyworld theme park podcast . I listen for entertainment and up to the minute news and changes but there are lots of people that listen and plan their trips around the tips and info given. If you host a Disney podcast please make sure your facts are correct. The three examples I gave are tip of the iceberg. I've been listening and shaking my head all weekend !

Podcasts are really no different than travel blogs. I don't think it's up to the listener to set the prerequisites for what someone needs for their podcast. What you can control is the ones you listen to. If they don't meet your standards, don't listen.

Ive heard incorrect info on TheDis, DisUnplugged, WDWNT, DCL Curuise blog...it happens.

My only rant, which isn't even a rant and more of a complaint is I think they come too much from a local's perspective. There is entirely too much focus right now on Disney Springs in my opinion. I get all the excitement and there are some amazing new restaurants down there but the amount of people who will make it over to Polite Pig compared to the people who will meet BB8 or want to meet Moana is not even comparable. Within hours of Polite Pig social media from the bloggers and podcasters was flooded with reviews and info. Its been a few weeks since BB8 has officially opened and very little has come out in regards to guests expectations (how long to expect to wait, best times to arrive, etc). I would almost prefer a show that was a better mix, like half the DisUnplugged crew and half of the WDWNOT crew.

What does this matter? not everyone wants to see everything and I don't think they have ever mislead saying anything other than these are their experiences at disney.

You said yourself your going back to old ones. Are you aware there was a recent year that at first the appetizer didnt' come with it? out of context of which show bugged you it's hard to get more specific.

In my opinion they can do whatever they want.. You can also not listen and do whatever you want. they like doing this, it has worked well for them and many like listening.. Disney is the only one that should not be doing a podcast with incorrect information, then again once disney says somethign incorrect then disney has to make good on that and it becomes correct.

Never said they were old podcasts . They are all within a few months old. And yes I understand I can choose not to listen to them which I will. I am surprised that people have the confidence to host a podcast that they are obviously not expert in. At least do not cover the topic if you are not sure the info you are giving out is correct.

I am not in the business of gatekeeping who should be allowed to, or who is qualified to, operate a podcast. I think one of the best things about the Podcast model is that it is open to virtually anyone - if you have the time, and a microphone, you can easily and create this content. Sometimes that means people either get things wrong, or have an opinion different than yours.

Yeah, I just don't let things like this bother me. Good thing is you know what's right and wrong and can gloss over the things they might happen to get wrong.

Well something rubbed you the wrong way and I like the dynamic of learning from each other that they do. The alternative is podcasts of kiss asses where nothing is never perfect that disney does. I am curious which show you felt they didn't know everything about meal plans as I would like to listen. I suspect you might have already been upset or annoyed and mistook a question as fact giving which I can see happening. I get it's a rant, however it's a step to say in a day and age where more content is produced by someone picking up a phone and just doing what they like and posting it that they shouldn't be doing the show. I don't think they ever call themselves experts on the show. They are also all in very different places. Not everyone on the podcast works for the travel agency so they may not be up on what meal plans have because they don't need to be as they live down the street. Not everyone is into the same things (although lately not sure I can say that statement, it's getting very blurry on different likes and dislikes).

The dreams unlimited show is a very different dynamic and is more research fact giving and advice.
