Disney Plus Dining and Gift of Magic Offer

After waiting on hold for over an hour I was told I can't upgrade to the new Disney Plus Dining option because my reservation was taking advantage of the Gift of Magic offer. Has anybody else encountered this? I was going to have to cancel and re-book with "the rack rate".

Yes, that’s the way it is. That’s why the dining plan isn’t always all that it’s cracked up to be.

Heres my experience although i wasnt adding the ddp+. I had the gift of magic room only offer and then added the dxdp (before the ddp+ rumor) and they were able to keep the discounted room rate. The cm had to cancel my room only booking and rebook room and dining package together. The cm had to reach out to guest relations to adjust the price of the package to reflect my original room price. The process took over 1.5 hours on the phone

The issue is that the particular promotion the OP booked under is no longer available. If this were a current promotion, like the sun and fun offer, it would be fine.

Did you have dining with the Gift of Magic promo? If not, then yes, they'd need to cancel your room only and rebook as a package with dining. Likeley reason for rack is that there isn't any more availability for the resort/room type you had under the promo. When you cancel the promo room doesn't automatically go back in to the pool of rooms as available.
