We have one more choice for our dining plan, it is on a Friday in January 2008 we have already chosin Whispering Canyon, Chef Mickeys, the Crystal Palace........ we have 2 kids so please help us out.:yay:

Well, when I was picking places, I had a few considerations. Well, a bunch. (Of course, this is my first trip, so anything I say, take with a grain of salt!) We have park hoppers, so that isn't an issue. But, I didn't want to spend too much time running around, esp. for meals, so I picked stuff either at the park we would be at that day, or nearby (monorail resort for Magic Kingdom day, Boma for Animal Kingdom day). So, location is important. Have you figured out which days you want to be at which parks yet?

Also, do you prefer buffet/all-you-can eat or to order off a menu? I went for mainly buffet/all-you-can-eat, so my picky eaters would have more options, and have chances to expand their preferred eating. :) I also went for places that seemed interesting, with at least a bit of entertainment ('Ohana, Marrakesh) if they didn't have characters. Ok, so I also chose Boma, because it sounded interesting and like something I wouldn't be able to experience near me.

As for ethnic food, I didn't want to end up eating something and be disappointed that I could get better food at home like it, but cheaper, y'know? But, that's me. :) So, that's how I ended up choosing Boma & Marrakesh ('Ohana was more for atmosphere & experience than food). 1900 Park Fare was an easy choice since my dd loves Cinderella and I didn't want to try for the castle. I ended up with Garden Grill because I wanted to start the trip lowkey and build up, so we are starting with Epcot - but I also wanted a character meal for our first night. (That was actually a suggestion from the registration woman, when I couldn't get Chef Mickey's that night.)

Sci-Fi at MGM is fun for kids, especially with sitting in the cars and the light up drinks. What about 'Ohanas for dinner? There's lots to entertain kids there!

Friday is our relaxing day, we were just going to explore some of the other resorts, maybe go to Downtown Disney.....and top it off with a place to eat that evening......

Our first night we plan to eat at the Whispering Canyon which we already reserved, the next day we plan on hitting the Animal Kingdom park which closes at 5PM then head on over to Chef Mickeys, our third day we will hit the Magic Kingdom where we will eat at the royal buffet, the fourth day is our take it easy day like I said hit Downtown Disney and explore some of the other resorts and maybe get ideas where to stay on our next trip, we want to top it off with a good place to eat that is not in the Parks..

Our Fifth day we will eat at Hollywood and Vine so my 3 year old which loves Little Einsteins....:dance3:

We are currently in WDW, and IME the Garden Grill offers some of the best character interaction of all the character meals (good food, too). We enjoyed the food at Tusker House (breakfast) but the characters weren't lingering at the tables at all. CP has good food, too, but the characters don't linger at all. We didn't even bother with CM this time around - last couple of times, the food was mediocre, though the characters were attentive the second time (we had ADRs right when they opened, so it was still empty).

'Ohana or Boma, since no tour of the resorts is complete without stops at the Poly and AKL, and these are great family restaurants. 'Ohana offers more diversions for the kids, but menu choices are more limited, IMO.

Enjoy your trip!

Not sure the ages of your kids or if you said if they are boys or girls, but, here are a few thoughts:

-1900 Park Fare for the Cinderella Dinner
-Akershus in Epcot for the Princess Dinner
-And, if you're going to be in DTD and want something fun, we loved Raglan Road. Our DD8 LOVED it. Her and a whole bunch of other little girls were up and "Irish dancing" in front of the band, clapping with the music, etc.
Think this is a good choice for kids in DTD, if you're going to be there.
