Has anyone done this? I'm new to the board and just came across this. It looks like a lot of fun! Any info would be great!

Ahoy! Any child who has ever dreamed of being part of a pirate adventure will enjoy "heading out to sea" in pursuit of treasure.

Children ages 4-12 will be outfitted with a red/white striped pirate Mickey hat (or a bandana) and board their pirate ship (pontoon boat) under the supervision of the "pirate" crew. At each "port of call" a new treasure awaits. At the final stop, they can share their booty while enjoying lunch. At least two Cast Members accompany the children, which are all CPR certified. All participants must be potty trained. (No Pull-ups.)

Lunch is usually Peanut butter and jelly Uncrustables, Goldfish crackers, Rice Krispee Treat and fruit punch juice box

Albatross Treasure Cruise - Yacht and Beach Club Dock on Wednesday and Friday. The two hour voyage begins at 9:30am

Disney's Pirate Adventure - Grand Floridian Dock on Mondays, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. The two hour voyage begins at 9:30am

Island of the Caribbean Pirate Cruise - Caribbean Beach Resort Dock on Tuesdays. The two hour voyage begins at 9:30am.

Sassagoula River Adventure Cruise - Port Orleans Riverside Dock on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. The two hour voyage begins at 11:30am.

You can book this 180 days in advance by calling 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463)

The cost is $30.01 per child, a credit card is required at the time of booking, and parents must sign a waver upon arrival. Cancellation policy is 24 hours in advance and no show/ not canceled 24 hours in advance, is full charge.

**Young pirates must show up at the marina by 9:15am for the 9:30 voyage and 11:15am for the 11:30 voyage

I've been wondering about this, too -- wanting to know what the spring/early summer dates are for it.

I think they changed the POR cruise from 11:30 to 9:30. My dd's did it in Sept, originally scheduled for 11:30, that's why I chose POR. Found out on arrival it was changed to the earlier time. If I'd known that I'd of picked another cruise, we stayed at Poly. My older dd's are 9, younger one is 5. They said they enjoyed it, but I think it's really for kids up to about 8. I don't think the older ones had that great a time. Plus, they'd been promised mickey ears and pirate loot that included candy and beads. They got a bandana and a few bumble gum machine type rings and a whistle. Don't know if they were out of the other stuff, but the girls were disappointed that they didn't get what the cm's promised. Also, they told us to be there at 11:15 to watch the end of the cruise, as the kids come in and divide up the loot. We got there at 11:20 and the boat was empty. We found the girls in the lobby waiting for us, all the other kids were gone. Apparently they came in early for some reason. The dd's did say that 2 of the boys were crying thru most of the cruise and that upset/annoyed several of the other kids because they were ruining the fun for the others. We did see 2 boys about 7/8 crying on dock before they left. One could have been a large 5 yr old, the other was definately about 8, I remember his older brother telling him to act his age. I was surprised boys that old would be that upset and hanging on mom crying they didn't want to go.

I just signed both my kids up for this at GL. They are girl 8 and a boy 5, I think they will have a blast.

I did a search after I posted and found a little more info on it. It sounds like a lot of fun! I called today to see if I could still get my 2 kids on - (girl 8 and boy 4) our trip is 66 days away! The lady I talked to had a hard time finding the CBR pirate cruise - she found it and they still had room! Woot! I'm so excited I wish I was a kid so I could go too! :)

Thanks for your replies!!

they came out with a haunted pirate cruise this fall, after our Sept trip of course lol. The age range is older, something like 5/6-12. I think my older dd's would have enjoyed this much more then the normal pirate cruise. It leaves from Poly, but I don't know if it's seasonal or year round.

Does anyone know if the Haunted pirate cruise is available this year? Oct 09

my step daughter and step son (ages 9 and 6) did the Pirate Cruise from the Grand Floridian last summer. They had a great time. My step son enjoyed a bit more than his sister...which makes sense...it was mostly little boy pirates! there were three or four girls. My SD was the oldest girl. She said it was fun though. All the kids got bandanas...(w/out mickey ears). Every child had to wear a life jacket. Cute pirate life jackets though! They all got "treasure" that they searched for. There was a lunch...sort of...on the adventure...uncrustables, a juice box and some fish crackers I think? Not really enough to fill a belly but an okay snack. My kiddos were hungry when they got back. Each child picks a "buddy". My SD was rather reluctant to buddy w/ her brother but she did so. :lmao: There was a younger girl that the CM in charge also put with my SD. She was a little shy and by herself. My SD was glad to have another girl with her!

getting Pirate-ing instructions!

I think it was well worth the price. The kids got to go off without mom and dad for a while. They are singing pirate songs and searching for buried treasure and the grown ups get some time off. My husband and I had a lovely breakfast at the Grand Floridian Cafe. Then we hopped on the monorail and walked around the Poly for a while...and we were back in time to see the boat return! The kids were singing all the way.

hope this helps!:goodvibes

Thanks for pics. :goodvibes It does look like fun. I know that my DGS7 is reluctant to do these things and I hope we can get him to go. He would enjoy it, but he seems to get separation anxiety.:scared1:
I saw that they did a Haunted pirate cruise in the evenings at Poly last fall, but couldn't find info if they still do.

thanks for the pictures! My son and daughter are both scheduled for this activity in a few weeks. My daughter keeps telling me that she does not want to do this. Hopefully, there will be another little girl to be friends with her.

Update: LOL..I showed the pictures to my daughter, and she is excited now. YAY!

I asked about the Haunted cruise when I booked last month. They said they invented it last yr and don't know if they'll do it again this year. I'm hoping they do, I'll try asking again in a few months.

Sounds good. I think I will check around my 90 day mark, also. Right now my DGS7 is saying he doesn't want to do it. (he can be pretty shy) But I know he would really like it, and may have to bribe him.;)

I continue to be amazed about all the things that one can do at WDW. I did not hear of this. Thanks for the info.

I know. Thats why I've become so addicted to these boards. :goodvibes I may have never known about alot of things!

It is worth it - my kids did it in December and had a AWESOME time.

Do you have to have reservations way ahead of time? We'll be there the first week in May, but haven't even told DS yet, so I can't ask him if he'd be interested in this. He'd do the CBR cruise.

If you make reservations, can you cancel them without penalty?

Are they still doing these cruises? I tried to search the WDW site but couldn't find anything. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

TIA!

My boys 4 & 7 did the Albatross Cruise in June. I sent them without hats because I had read about the bandanas, but on their cruise they didn't get bandanas until the end with the other loot so I wished they had had their hats as it was very hot and bright. Their other loot was: eye patches, a small metal pirate chest bank, plastic coins, plastic beads, pirate bubbles, ring and plastic sword. There were thrilled with it. There was one little girl who was terrified to go and her mom asked nicely if she could cancel at the last minute and they let her do that with no charge which I thought was nice. If you've been to Disney a bunch of times and are looking to do something special for this trip I would say go for it. It's well done and I think all the kids had fun. Since it was our first time to Disney I felt like we would have been better off just spending the morning together at MK. I'm a nervous mom type, so I felt a little funny sending them off with strangers and when we picked them up the CM told me my younger one had complained of a stomach ache. He was fine for the rest of the day, so I think it was just nerves. Before the trip I made an invitation out of scrapbooking paper that looked like an antique map, tied it up with a ribbon and put it inside a plastic bottle with a cork and told them someone had left it by the door the morning of the cruise - they got a real kick out of that!
