I'm wondering if this is a good tour for the kids to do? It sounds like something both my girls would love (7 & 10). The idea of them being without parents and taking a boat from place to place searching for clues I think they would be totally into it! pirate:

My question is we are going with my cousin and her kids her son is 6 but her daughter just last week turned 11 and in the book it says 4-10. (we will be there Oct 3rd)Do you think they would let her go? I'd hate for her to be left out of it and have hurt feelings.

Also, what do the parents do while the kids are cruising for 2 hours? It leaves from the Grand Floridian Marina and I'm not sure what this is close to or how we would get to it from POP. Any advice? Thanks :)

We just did this pirate adventure two weeks ago with 5 kids from age 4 through 9 1/2. They all loved it! It was a nice break for them and for us. The four adults went to breakfast at the Grand Floridian Cafe and just enjoyed relaxing for a couple of hours. The hotel is beautiful and 2 hours was just enough time to eat and wander around a bit.
As to the 11 year old, I would call - I don't know if 4-10 is a strict limit or just a guideline. I know they don't allow kids under 4, but not sure about over 10.
If you decide to go for it - enjoy!

To get to ghr Grand Floridian from Pop, I would take the bus to MK and then get on the monorail to the GF. I think there is a boat launch too that goes to GF.

When my boys went they were both 7. They had a great time. It looked like most kids are 7 and younger, so I'm not sure it the 11 year old would feel funny going. I'm sure she will be able to go. I would ask her if she wants to do it. My boys, at 9 this year, thought that were too old to do it again.

While the boys were on the cruise, we walked around the resort, shopped and sat outside just relaxing. It was a nice break.

Are there even any openings for the tour while you're there? I'd check that first; I called a few months ago for my DD8 and it was very booked up (for the end of September). You may want to be sure there's room before you decide whether or not to book it. Good luck!

My DD10 & DS5 went to the Grand Floridian one last year and to the one at CBR this past summer. They had a blast on both of them. I would highly recommend the Pirate Cruises! I also don't think signing up an 11 year old would be an issue.

Our dd (7) is doing this as well. She loves pirates and I think it would be fun for her and nice for us to relax a bit with ds (2.5). Dad even said he didn't might relaxing there at GF while I take DS to the MK to get in some ride time. Or even do a bit of shopping.
We're going to use our rental car, tho, to get to GF. I would be nervous to take the bus, who knows if there'd be a huge line to get from one place to another and then you'd miss your launch time.
I know we had to secure our spot with a $5 deposit via phone rez.

I think the 11 yr old will be fine to go - I see the 10 yr old cap as a guideline as to at what age the cruise would no longer appeal as opposed to a set rule (now on the other hand I view the 4 yr old base as a set rule as there are not enough CM's to keep track of younger kids)

From POP to GF, grab a cab or take a bus to MK and then take the launch boat to the GF (the launch boat will dock near where the pirate ship leaves from)

For 2 hours - you could go for a quick trip into MK or have a late breakfast at the GF, you could stroll over to the Poly and back, do some shopping and browsing at the GF stores

Another thought is to rent a mouseboat or other boat and pretend to chase your pirates (grab some pics of their boat etc.) and then cruise around the lagoon, maybe into Bay Lake and then head back to thte GF in time to pick up the pirates

Hi JoiseyMom, did your kidss have a preference between the GF or CBR one (mine have gone on the GF and the Albatross over at BC/YC but not on the CBR one yet)

Thanks in advance
