OK, I am a disney pin trader and have been one for about 5 years now. However, it is kind of hard to get pins when not actually at Disney, so when we go on vaction, I start saving up my money. When we get there, i go crazy. I usually set aside about $200 just for pins. My collocten is now worth a little over $350 :smokin: . Is anyone else here a pin trader? Do you have the same problems I do with finding pins when not at disney? Also, I wanted to know if anyone has been there recently and know the current price of them. I keep all of my pins on a hat.(Yes, it is a very flashy, heavy, and cramped hat.) Anyone know where to get those nifty books that the Disney Official Pin Traders have :confused3 ? Thnx for all your help.

I am a very serious Walt Disney World pin collector/trader from Toronto, so just like you whenever I am at WDW I go crazy when it comes to spending money just on pins. Right now I have in total 786 pins & I have been collecting them since May 2001. When I am not in WDW I get pins threw Ebay which is the only other way I know how. Next month when I am at WDW I hope to have over 800 pins in my collection. Last time I was at WDW an open edition pins was $6.95 & other open edition pins were $8.95 & when it came to limited edition pins they range in price from $10.95 - $12.95. Jumbo pins cost $25.00 & Super Mega Jumbo pins cost $95.00 which is a lot. I hope this helps. You can purchase those pin bags at any location that sells pins. Some of spots could be Disney's Pin Traders at DTD or any location in the parks that sell pins.

There's a great FAQ under the "Collectors" section on this board with info on pins, pictures of pins and info sites :) I browse for pins online mostly, there's always tons on eBay (the prices are sometimes all over the place, so research a bit and be sure to see how much they want to charge for shipping and if they will combine shipping for you) and you can buy direct from disney online or their auction site for limited editions.

You can get some pins at www.disneyshopping.com, with free shipping on Mondays. I believe you can also get the bag, or at least, you used to be able to buy it.

I frame my pins. I get some frames, take out the glass and the back board, get a sheet of that foam poster board, cut out a peice the size of the opening, get some really nice fabric, place the fabric over the board and put it into the frame. Then I just push the pins into place on the board, and I have a really nice way to display my pins. I haven't too many yet, only about 25, but I will have to start a new frame soon. Very economical, and practical. I can reposition the pins whenever I want to, like when I get new ones to add to my collection. I keep the backs in a jewelry box for when I need to wear them.

I get to look at all of them all of the time, and when people visit, I can show them my collection.

Just a thought! :goodvibes

I know what you mean. Pins are expensive and can take all your money in a flash, but it is so lovely to look at them when you get home. I buy my pins because they represent something that I have done or seen. For example, if I eat at Chef Mickey's, I buy a Chef Mickey's pin.
So pins are a great way for me to remember what I've done.
About the Disney pin Trading books, you can get them pretty much everywhere pins are sold. I got my book from CBR. LOL.

Turn around, walk away, you'll be addicted soon enough...lol. We had a grand total of 4 pins when I started to get into pin trading/collecting in November (just about a year ago), we now have about 750 or so regular sized pins, about 40 jumbos and one framed set, also I've got a Mickey Pin Trading Statue. I've slowed down a bit in the past month but I love it and they are the first thing I go looking for when I'm in WDW.

You can find some great pins on Disneyshopping.com.

What we have started doing is buying lots of Disney Pins on ebay, and then we trade those pins at the parks. It's fun to trade with CMs, and it saves money. We keep some pins on our lanyards, and the bulk of them in one of those notebook type pin keepers that we bought at one of the many pin shops at Disneyworld. There is a nice big shop in Downtown Disney.
